Took some plane spotting photos during a party boat outing on Lake Grapevine.. Never worked out just right with the storm clouds but oh well.. fun spot.
when no one else in the world understands, there's DFW. I can't wrap my finger around his suicide but I might not have considered him as prolific if he didn't. Yet, if I could resurrect anyone from the dead besides my grandfather, I'd say he'd be the second. Ironic, huh? I started reading CONSIDER THE LOBSTER and I found it absolutely addicting (though, when books are THIS good I tend to read it at a slower pace as to enjoy for a longer duration), and I've been on a DFW obsession since reading OBLIVION last year. It's like the best therapy session because it gives me a sense of grounded-ness. Knowing that someone else understood the psychological restraint from the world around you, daily battles with your vices and how much you tried to hide the uncertainties of your past and the present doubts of being. Oh, no- I'm not depressed. I'm actually somewhat content with many things but I like that others recognize the shit that digests my grey matter at night.
These were the thunder clouds that we passed thru landing at DFW. We were the first plane to land after an intense storm closed the airport. It was a little choppy coming in through this weather. Beautiful but a bit unnerving.

So I've become one of "those" people strolling through the airport with a smoothie in one hand and a crackberry in the other. I also came to the realization that every other time I've flown through DFW, I've never gotten off the plane. Did you know they have a L'Occitane? It's strategically located near the bathroom, you you can sneak some hand cream from their testers.
I participated in welcoming home some returning troops at the DFW Airport in Dallas this morning. We made sure we shook each one's hand and personally thanked them for their service to our country.
