Another black and white image from Faroe Islands. It was just that kind of weather which greeted us over the first few days. This is the road to Saksun and a moment of brightness gave us some hope but when we arrived at the destination, there was not even a chance of getting out of the car with pouring rain and howling wind around us. Still it all made for occasional great moody conditions along the drive.

Man does not descend from the ape, for the simple reason that he is an ape himself ! 🤔

Its current species, Homo sapiens, is the only survivor of a genus (Homo) which belongs, with the genus Pan (chimpanzee, bonobo) and that of gorillas, to the subfamily of African great apes. Furthermore, analyzes and comparisons of gene and/or protein sequences tell us that humans and chimpanzees are closer relatives of each other than they are of any other species.

Their two lineages separated only 7 million years ago to evolve separately. They share a last common ancestor, but one does not "descend" from the other.

Autumn leaves sprite to a full bloom array of magnificent colours, but there comes a time as October descends that theses beautiful leaves have to fall away....see you again in the springtime !

Have a safe and delightful day dearest flickr friends !

This is one of my favourite shots from this summer's Europe trip. It was quite crowdy on the surrounding hills of Matterhorn that day mainly because of good weather that was forecasted after few days of heavy showers. I know it doesn't look like 'good weather', but the sky was about to clear up in an hour or so.

Right behind the ridge in the foreground of the photo, there's a beautiful viewpoint at Matterhorn, from which you feel like you could almost touch the most iconic peak of Switzerland. I was waiting patiently for people passing back and forth and hunting for a victim. I finally got him, a lonely trecker descending from the ridge with his majesty Matterhorn arising behind his backs.

I took a shot of these stairs in Embankment underground station a few years ago and the tiles were blue. They did look more striking back then but I still like this stairwell and tunnel effect.

Muted familiar fragrances

Distant fleeting recollections

This beauty I had come to know

Shatters then recedes in brittle air

Aimless vagrant waters

Draw me out with the tide

Gasping, slowing descending

Screaming toward the shore

Painful persistent images

Disrupts my sleep

Intrudes in dreams

Faint droning echoes within the walls

Veiled reminders of regret time will hold

Aimless vagrant waters

Draw me out with the tide

Gasping, slowing descending

Screaming toward the shore

A cop pulled up and looked really confused while I took this...

Also, there was some really awesome fog that rolled in but I didn't act fast enough / there wasn't enough light to capture it... maybe next time?

This is the wonderful spiral staircase and chandelier at Heal's on Tottenham Court Road. This has been on my list since I first saw an image of it but wanted to try something a little different. I therefore concentrated on the lights and their bokeh opportunities. Of course I took some more "standard" photo's of the staircase too and I will be posting them very soon. I could have spent hours here working different angles. It really is beautiful.

ABOUT THE SERIES

I first met my girlfriend Michelle two years ago at a close friend's wedding (we were both in the wedding party on Sara, the bride's side). The wedding took place at Sara's family's ranch in Sisters, Oregon. In July 2010, Michelle and I traveled back to Sisters, Oregon for the 4th of July weekend to celebrate the birthdays of those of us who are turning 30 this year (that will be me in November).

Sisters is an amazing place with spectacular scenery and outdoor activities. The town is named after the Three Sisters mountains which are named Faith, Hope, and Charity although there are many other mountain tops visible from the town including Mount Bachelor and Mount Washington.
