In what was to become publicly known as the biggest fail in the history of mankind, Randolph P Poole leans against the Fire All button in the midst of his janitorial duties.
Half of England is evaporated, and radiation fallout travels across Europe, contaminating major cities in Asia and Russia (though Russia really didn't notice too much, since everybody knows they eat radioactive cornflakes for breakfast).
The weeks that followed in the political world were rife with apologies and hard feelings, and it was only after Russia damned America to be "The stupidest nation on earth" that the severity of the situation finally struck home with Randolph.
After being fired from his janitorial job, he went on a vacation to the Bahamas and was never heard from again.
