This small sculpture I found on a recent trip intrigued me enough to have an impromptu photo session. I'm so glad I did. The image has seized my imagination, lending itself to stories galore.

Deep Purple was a cosmic band. The boys are old now. Anyway, it somehow matched the color.
Forests in the west are dying off at an alarming rate, and if you look closely, you can see the orange color of some of these trees. The tell-tale signs of an unhealthy forest. This is directly due to climate change and the heating of the earth. The pine beetle, which has always been with us has been kept under control through nature--very cold winters. Extreme cold kills off enough beetles to keep the death of pine trees in check, but not anymore! Now, it's not uncommon to see whole sides of mountains filled with pines, dead!

Will you die in misery?
Wash over me, wash over me
Will you die of a broken heart?
Tears you apart, it tears you apart
Will you die in misery?
Rain over me, rain over me
Can you die of a broken soul?
Leave you in woe, carved in your soul
You cry through the fires of misery! Misery!
Bleed dry through the nights of misery! Misery!
Can you die in misery?
Wash over me, wash over me
Will you die tied in your chains?
And now it rains, oh how it rains
You drag your heart behind like a wounded kill
Can you dream, can you breathe with a broken will?
You cry through the fires of misery! Misery!
Bleed dry through the nights of misery! Misery!
Will you die in misery?
Wash over me, wash over me
Will you die of a broken soul?
Leaves you in woe, carved in your soul, deep in your soul

I'm slipping into the deep end
I'm in over my head
I can't catch my breath
I'm slipping into the deep end
Feel the current within
I can't help,
I give in Like light in my veins,
Darkness is sinking
Darkness is sinking me
Commanding my soul
I am under the surface
Where the blackness burns beneath

Did I do something wrong?
I live by the law of attraction, I want what I'm after
I probably should figure that out
I'm in love with distraction and overreacting
As if I know what it's about
But you can't tell me that you ain't never been wrong before
No, you can help me, but that's not what I'm asking for...
