Southbound A418 blasts past the wooden elevator at Dapp Alberta, on CN's Westlock Sub. After enjoying blue bird skies the day before winter decided to return with it's Pimp Slap in full force.
One of the last wooden country elevators built by the Alberta Wheat Pool.
The 1986 Annual Report stated
"Three new high throughput elevators were constructed at Burdett, Dapp and Willingdon."
The elevator is on the CN Westlock Sub, ~mile 66.15

After catching BC Rail 4653 leading A419 through Flatbush, we still didn’t know where 418 was with 4646 on the point. They were supposed to have met at Kilsyth, but there had been no sign of 418 passing. I decided to make my way back towards Westlock in case they had indeed snuck past us somehow at Kilsyth; worst case scenario I could just get breakfast while I waited! Coming up to the Jarvie turn off, the scanner came alive. 418 had indeed snuck past. I pulled into Dapp, where headlights were nearly indistinguishable through the thick fog. I pulled alongside the old wooden elevator, just in time as 418 rolled by! I would catch them several more times near Westlock and Busby, before putting the drone up to watch them roll into St. Albert on the final leg of their journey. Although there were no ditch lights, the foggy winter wonderland and some good company made for a chase to remember!

After catching BC Rail 4653 leading A419 through Flatbush, and BC Rail 4646 leading A418 through Dapp and Westlock, I stopped at this curve just north of Busby! The hoarfrost coated the surrounding foliage as yet another day of fog worked its magic.
