Following the (packed) “Rorschach Audio” lecture-demonstration at The University of Leeds Chemistry Building in Oct 2014, Leeds University’s School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies invited 12 guest speakers to offer “a short answer to a big question”, with a very loose brief… “If you could give 200 words worth of advice to a Fine Art student in 2015, what would it be?”, for publication in an A5 chapbook, published in May 2015.
The authors (contributing one page each) include Tim Etchells (performance artist and co-founder of Forced Entertainment), Richard Forster (sculptor and draughtsman), Oona Grimes (artist and story teller), Melissa Gronlund (writer and editor, Afterall), Mishka Henner (photographic and web artist), Jennifer Higgie (writer and editor, Frieze), Pavilion (commissioning agency), Grace Schwindt (sculptor and film and performance artist), Molly Smyth (sculptor), Alison Turnbull (painter), Covandonga Valdes (painter) and Joe Banks (founder of the art project Disinformation). The “200 Words” booklet was edited by Nick Thurston and is published in association with the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery, Pavilion and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
“Art is not necessarily science, but science is always art”
“All artworks are psychology experiments”
“Don’t destroy all rational thought”
“The medium isn’t the message”
“Art should never be boring”... etc
Although the doors were locked, these shots through the glass turned out well enough. This is the modern (2009) view of the interior location of the Emporium.
when I woke up this morning, I expected to find that we would remain in the EU. So I was deeply saddened to see that the Leavers had won by a small margin. I haven't even taken a photo today, I'm that depressed, so here's one from yesterday, when I was happier...

pretty much self explainable going through a rough patch at the moment plus my laptop broke because I overheated it. :s so I'm stuck using an old pc which takes 1 minute to load each action (I wish I was exaggerating!) not only that I didnt have a remote for this shoot because I havn't got a new one yet so this was done with a self timer :(
but I'm not loosing hope.
Filming site of the liquor store scene with the clerk and smoking pregnant customer. The original building was torn down and is now the parking lot for a strip club. The sign remains.
A poster to promote This year’s rip and run event that takes place at sevendials each year. It is an event where selected artists give away free poster/wall art, that is hung up in various hidden places in the streets. I used old ripped posters from outside walls to create a new poster in a collage style.

I've never photographed a fashion show before, so this was quite a learning experience.
It was in a beautiful old church called The Kirk.

"Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packing here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fu*kin' muscle."

Tired and dark, eyes are a pool of dream
Hoping in vain for rest, blinking and red.
Humming under my voice, I sing my theme.
When time is a dry brook, I float downstream
Letting the gloomy thoughts drop on its bed.
Tired and dark, eyes are a pool of dream
- Closed - to avoid the smallest gold sunbeam
- Open - to see the word that’s still unsaid.
Humming under my voice, I sing my theme.
The shade shows far away atoms agleam:
Maybe they’re real. Maybe I’ve been misled;
Tired and dark, eyes are a pool of dream.
I saw the lightings explode in my bloodstream
Pulsing away in colours as they bled:
Tired and dark, eyes are a pool of dream
Humming under my voice, I sing my theme.

42/365. 27/10/08. Here's The Yardbirds version, with the original lyrics. Here is the original by Jake Holmes.
Jimmy Page (and RobertPlant) copped a lot of criticism (deservedly so I think) for taking other people's songs and turning them into their own but not giving credit to the original. Later down the track credit was given but, really, should have been done at the time. Bad move Jimmy.
Anyway, while with The Yardbirds Jimmy was experimenting with all sorts of guitar sounds, including the soon-to-be-famous violin bow technique. This track goes for about 5 minutes only - not the 25 minute epic it was to become later on.
