Elizabeth Davis presents "Reveal" : A Photo Essay examining women who create. Photography by JD Urban

The latest participant is Elizabeth's mother, Melody. It was a pleasure working with Mrs Davis, who - like her daughter, came ready to play.

It is such an honor (TRULY) to work with such a talented team of creative women. Leah J. Loukas Earon Dianna & Sue Makkoo each make my job that much better by continually offering me new challenges. (I also quite enjoy being the only male presence in this process - but I totally would)

Rarely seen outdoors and even rarer together Davis ferrybridge depot shunters await the next 10 or so biomass wagons to position for service.

numbered 01543 and 01520 for a reason I have no idea.

Davis CA, I've drawn this Dutch-colonial style house before.

The cool, close confining shade of Davis Canyon was a pleasant relief from walking in the hot sun along the Ray Atkenson Trail.

The gravel road to the Ray Atkenson Trail is accessible from the Cascades Lakes Scenic Byway.

Ray Atkenson was Oregon's State Photographer Laureate. The trail was created as a memorial at Sparks Lake.

Empty streets of Glen Davis...

About three weeks ago, The Boss and I decided to check out Little Davis Falls in Hamilton, Ontario. This is a small waterfall, about a 3 metre drop, on the Red Hill Creek, is readily accessible, and at that time was surrounded by a forest of primarily yellow leaves. The sunlight on the trees and also on the leaves already fallen into the creek at the base of the Niagara Escarpment and the reflections in the water provided a classic Southern Ontario Fall colour scene. - JW

Tech Details:

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S DX Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4.0 lense set to 18mm, ISO100, Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Aperture Priority mode, f/16.0, 1/5 sec with an EV-0.67 exposure bias (based on test shot). PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image size to be 9000px wide, slightly brighten the image overall by setting exposure compensation to EV+0.55, use the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool to darken the background trees to a tonal value more like the foreground, slightly increase contrast as well as Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, use the Shadows/Highlights tool to recover shadows, adjust White Balance from initial value to 4969K to reduce excessive yellow cast, sharpen (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the levels tool in auto mode to get a good base overall tonality and somewhat better colour balance, use the Hue-Saturation-Brightness on the yellow channel only to boost the yellow leaves saturation slightly, adjust colour balance to reduce a slight residual green colour cast, sharpen slightly, save, scale to 6000px wide, sharpen slightly, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px wide for posting online, sharpen very slightly, save.

Amazing Bette Davis.

After watching "All About Eve" again yesterday I've realized I'm definitely in awe of Bette Davis. I also got to catch her on "What's My Line" last night. She's just so amazing. I'm going to check out a bio of her this week...I think it would be a fascinating read.

Odd as it may, Davis Creek Falls is vastly taller than the namesake fall at Dukes Creek Falls. Pictures do not do justice to the way this massive fall towers far above visitors in the viewing area at its base.
