The Mezzomiglio area is always a magical and little-frequented place. A terrace where the gaze is lost in the panorama.
The view ranges from Cansiglio to Lake Santa Croce, between the Alpago basin and the peaks of the Valbelluna Dolomites.

This weeks Saturday Night Special is some D&H Alco goodness. Photo by Michael A. Tedesco at Bison Yard in Sloan, NY on 11/16/1976. I missed out on catching the D&H C628's. By the time I got my drivers license in 1977 the C628's had fallen out of favor on the D&H and were either stored or used as trailing units. I caught a few as trailing units on trains and got a few parked at Colonie Shops and at Oneonta. I did actually catch one train with 3 C628's leading in 1977, but the only film I could get for the camera at the time was a roll of Ektachrome 160, so the images look pretty weird as far as the color is concerned.

The Musée d'Orsay (French pronunciation: [myze dɔʁsɛ]) is a museum in Paris, France, on the Left Bank of the Seine. It is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. It's getting to be that time of the year when I harvest the unused fresh herbs from garden and Dry them in my oven. A convection oven is a great way to "Dehydrate" fresh herbs to use all winter long.
La forêt d'Akfadou, à cheval entre les wilayas de Tizi-Ouzou et Béjaïa, est l'un des plus importants massifs forestiers d'Afrique du Nord.
Ce poumon, s'étendant sur 16.000 hectares, constitue à lui seul 25% des forêts de feuillus d'Algérie !
La flore de ce massif culminant à plus de 1600 mètres d'altitude est principalement constituée de chênes de différentes espèces (zeen, vert, liège).
Au sein de cette forêt, à 1200 mètres d'altitude, se cache un lac naturel appelé le « Lac noir » d'une étendue de 3 hectares pour 1 mètre de profondeur.
À noter que depuis quelques années, les autorités ont entamé le processus de réintroduction du cerf de Berbérie, espèce endémique de l'Afrique du Nord, dans le massif de l'Akfadou.

D&H 2306 & 7409 are waiting in the pre dawn gloom to be put on the rear end of the GV1 salt train at Hornell, NY on 5/14/1978. At Hornell the salt train would spit up the power so that there were units at both ends of the train for the reverse move required at Attica, NY.

Meet 'Vera', a tank in the D-Day Museum. Some info from the website:
A Sherman Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle (BARV), nicknamed 'Vera', War Department No. T145523. The BARV was a converted Sherman Mk.III, M4A2 tank. This particular tank was originally built in 1943 as a regular gun tank. Markings on the hull suggest that its parts were produced in a modular fashion by several different companies and then assembled together. It was produced with "LO", a type of steel particulary adapted to cast large pieces of armor. The tank was assembled at Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio as part of contract S/M 1012 for the British Government. The hull (part number E4151) was built by American Steel Foundries East St. Louis (Illinois) Works, and the bogies were made by several companies including the Continental Foundry & Machine Company of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. It's exact wartime history is not known, but it is known that a relatively small number of BARVs were converted. It has been given the markings of a beach recovery section of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
