Pi

Nothingness and light made love

In their womb a lying eight is growing

It brought a deep peace

but all the while started one hundred thousand wars

'cause the lying eight brought pi along,

a dark twin, a mirror of the eight

Infinite as its brother, but with a deeper power

and so the two of them secretly made a mischievous pact

They created cyclic life with mortal beings

living in the boundlessness of infinity

and in this contradiction shapes and colours grew

Billions died to experience the number

which gave them their shape,

the lying eight is the monster that provided a place for pi

Pi is speaking a never ending poem

and thereby gives a mortal face to eternity

It grows layer by layer and number by number

Pi is circling around Buddha's vertebrae up to Hitler's eyes

The lying eight is the entwining loop

Pi is the cyclops and the eight is its eye

The lying eight is the mind and pi is its body

When the circle closes the eight gets indestructible

It circles through the shapes, by the numbers it gets possible to be experienced

Nothingness is its mother, light is its father

They circulate in every living being

They are at home in stones, they can be read in the rain

They weave the threads that float through all planes

while our essences have to let themselves get moved

through the barriers until the knowledges of it will ascend our essences

onto those planes which pave the ways of the soul

and which lead us back to the eternal tomorrow

Its sister is the yesterday and died today

because nothing is faster than light

and due to that it already knows today where light will refract tomorrow

and eternally remains immovable because it's liberated

Nothing is infinite because there is no time

Unlimited (amount of) numbers behind the comma

In pi there are rivers, mountains, trees, monsters, fire and thunder

but pi's value never grows larger than 3.1,

Eternal on the inside but small on the outside

Pi gets mean, it's brother (becomes) its enemy

It grows more and more angry and plants a seed

to create a being that it limits as well,

a blind being like itself, it calls it human

Pi is driven by a snub

and manifests its own limitation

in the human mind, in the flesh, in the thinking,

to drown every living matter in suffering

over the separateness of pi from light

It created the world but doesn't love it

Pi is a child of eternity, but it can't see it

Light and nothingness, they defeated each other

with their own child; the human remains blind

as long as pi keeps singing its numbers in his cells,

the human won't get free, he remains alien to himself

until he recognizes the circle behind all numbers

Sorry for being a bit quiet on commenting this week. Work is stupid busy and have been having some problems with my editing software. Seems like a couple of files got corrupted but hopefully now sorted. Still testing.

Anyway, last weekend decided to blow a few more cobwebs off and looking at the forecast there was supposed to be high level cloud over West Sussex at sunrise and I've been wanting to shoot the windmill at sunrise for a while now the ugly Herras fencing has gone. In the end the high level cloud didn't materialise until after Golden Hour was over but I managed to get both some camera and drone shots of which this is one. Well it's actually a bracket of 3 shots as I try to play safe with drone shots!

This iconic Sussex landmark, perched on Halnaker Hill and visible from a wide surrounding area, is well worth the climb to admire close up. The wildflower-rich chalk grassland at the hilltop is a great spot to get away from it all and enjoy fine views of the coast across a patchwork of woods and farmland. The windmill is closed to the public and surrounded by a galvanised fence.

Halnaker Windmill is a disused Grade II listed windmill built in 1740. At a height of 400 feet it stands prominently on the South Downs near Chichester. Halnaker Windmill was working until struck by lightning in 1905, damaging the sails and wind shaft.

The windmill has been restored with a new tile-hung façade and extensive repairs to the cap and balcony. In November 2021 the sails (known locally as sweeps) were removed for cyclical assessment and necessary repairs.

The top of Halnaker Hill is a Scheduled Ancient Monument as it is the location of a Neolithic earthwork structure known as a 'causewayed enclosure'. This scheduling includes the WW2 radio direction-finding structure'.

The Ox is the second of the 12-year periodic sequence of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar, and also appears in related calendar systems. The Chinese term translated here as ox is in Chinese niú, a word generally referring to cows, bulls, or neutered types of the bovine family, such as common cattle or water buffalo. The zodiacal ox may be construed as male, female, neuter, and either singular or plural. The Year of the Ox is also denoted by the Earthly Branch symbol chǒu. The term "zodiac" ultimately derives from an Ancient Greek term referring to a "circle of little animals". There are also a yearly month of the ox and a daily hour of the ox. Years of the oxen are cyclically differentiated by correlation to the Heavenly Stems cycle, resulting in a repeating cycle of five years of the ox/cow, each ox/cow year also being associated with one of the Chinese wǔxíng, also known as the "five elements", or "phases": the "Five Phases" being Fire, Water, Wood, Metal, and Earth. The Year of the Ox follows after the Year of the Rat and it is followed by the Year of the Tiger.

This is a view looking south from the north rim of stream eroded ampitheater visible from the Gooseberry Badlands overlook near Gooseberry Creek, Wyoming. This overlook lies along WY 431 and provides a glimpse of the badlands formations common in Early Eocene Willwood formation of the Bighorn Basin, Wyoming. The Willwood, famous for its mammalian fossils, consists of a series of cyclic fluvial (stream/river) and floodplain deposits. In the badlands visible from the overlook, ribbon-like thin channel sands thought to be avulsion channels or splays can be seen alternating with red paleosol and drab floodplain deposits. There are some thicker fluvial sands that represent the trunk or main stream channels. Intermittent, ephemeral streams have eroded these sediments into fanciful hoodoos, pillars; castles; small arches and fluted walls often capped by one of the ribbon or thicker fluvial sands A 1.5 mile nature trails winds into the badlands formations from the overlook giving hikers a glimpse into the rugged terrain that covers much of the central Bighorn Basin.

Sculpture 66 is located along the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk.

Gleb Dusavitskiy says: "Tides And Rises is a wooden abstract sculpture symbolising life's fluid journey. It's flowing forms and natural warmth reflect balance, change, and the cyclical nature of highs and lows, inviting reflection on life's ever-evolving rhythm."

This enchanting photograph captures the harmonious blend of seasons, where summer's last breath meets autumn's golden embrace. A single vibrant pink lotus flower takes center stage, its delicate petals unfurled in full bloom, creating a striking focal point amidst a sea of lily pads.

The still water surface acts as a mirror, perfectly reflecting the warmth of fall foliage above. Shimmering hues of gold, orange, and green dance across the pond, painting a impressionistic canvas of autumn's splendor. The contrast between the cool blue depths of the water and the warm tones of the reflected foliage adds depth and dimension to the scene.

Scattered lily pads in various shades of green and pink dot the water's surface, their circular forms providing a gentle rhythm to the composition. The lotus flower's reflection creates a mesmerizing symmetry, bridging the world above and below the water line.

This image invites the viewer to pause and reflect on the transient beauty of nature, where each season's end heralds the beginning of another's glory. It's a serene moment frozen in time, showcasing the profound beauty found in the cyclical changes of the natural world.

It's Fireworks Friday once again. Funny how that happens every 7 days. It's almost cyclical in nature. Here's another "Little Bit O' Pretty" from my shoot at the end of Main St.

In the grand symphony of the seasons, fall serves as nature's grand finale. It's a culmination of the year's growth and a reminder of the cyclical nature of life. With each passing day, the world transforms a bit more, leaving a trail of breathtaking beauty in its wake.

The image captures a tranquil island, standing as a quiet guardian of time and space, surrounded by the still embrace of calm waters. The reflection in the lake blurs the boundary between reality and illusion, reminding us that what we perceive is often shaped by the stillness within us. The warm glow of sunlight graces the trees, symbolizing the fleeting yet beautiful transitions of life, while the sky, adorned with delicate, flowing clouds, mirrors the gentle passage of time.

Framed by the silhouettes of bare branches, the scene speaks to the cyclical nature of existence – moments of fullness and moments of quiet emptiness. This image is a meditation on solitude, connection, and the silent reflections that shape our understanding of the world around us.

Scenic framing of graceful Terns enjoying a sunny day on a rock in front of Tiran Island.

Common Terns have long, narrow, angular wings and pointed wingtips. Unlike gulls, they have a straight, slender bill, the tail is forked and the legs are short.

Most are white with a dark cap and red or orange bill. Terns usually pair for life, though the pair bond is not maintained in the non-breeding season.

Those long-distance migrants

will travel well in excess of 500,000 miles on migration, more than enough to take it to the moon and back (a distance of 480,000 miles, on average). During the course of their life they will experience more daylight than almost any other creature. Although the Arctic Tern has the longest migration, many other species also traverse long distances between breeding and non-breeding season.

Across various cultures, the tern has long been associated with guidance, freedom, and the journey of the soul. Maritime communities have revered the tern as a guardian of the seas, believing that its presence signals safe passage.

Sailors often looked to these birds as signs of direction and protection during their voyages, trusting their instincts to guide them through stormy waters. In Indigenous traditions, the tern represents harmony with nature and the cyclical rhythms of life.

Terns represent the qualities that we as humans employ to survive, they give us hope.

In the intricate fabric of our language lies a phrase that speaks to the essence of human connection—'take you under my wing.' Its origin, much like the graceful spread of a protective wing, harks back to the nurturing care of birds shielding their young. This expression beautifully encapsulates our capacity to offer guidance, support, and shelter to those in need. We find ourselves, at different points in our lives, in varied roles: sometimes the guardian, extending our wing to shield and mentor others, and sometimes the fledgling seeking solace and wisdom, yearning to be taken under the comforting embrace of another's wing. It's a testament to the cyclical nature of our human experience—where giving and receiving support intertwine, shaping our collective journey towards empathy, resilience, and growth.

It is marvellous, perhaps miraculous, that we human beings can operate on two very different if not mutually exclusive and incommensurate levels. There is language, which is, like music, serial and leading us from A to Z, and there is image, which is cyclical in principle, meaning you can enter it at any time from anywhere. Each has its own universe as it were, but we can travel in both. They are neither in harmony nor disharmony. Just different.

Spiral threaded glass vase in ancient Roman style. The object is cyclical in many ways - exit and entrance are the same. The vase shares these properties with most of the religious buildings (and with a number of very ancient animals without anus, flatworms

for example). You have probably never thought about this. But much of our lives takes place in a cyclical perspective - exit and entrance the same, the beginning identical with the end. There is a fundamentally different perspective, however - the straight line, running from A to Z. And that one shapes our lives too, and is where the analogy of the vase collapses. This husky and noisy member of the finch family is a resident of almost every province across Canada. They tend to be cyclic and every 2 or 3 years large flocks show up especially in winter and then will become absent for a time. In years when their numbers are high any backyard feeder well stocked with sunflower seeds becomes a target for these ravenous feeders. Bird banders will verify their large, conical shaped bill is capable of exerting a good deal of force when it clamps down on a finger. This enables this species to easily open large sunflower seeds and the smaller birds are happy to follow behind them and do cleanup. Being able to exert good force with their large bills makes it easier for them to snap off maple twigs so they can lap up the sweet sap as it oozes out.

This species is listed as special concern caused mainly by man harvest vast amounts of mature forests and using large amounts of pesticides to control spruce budworm coupled with heavy losses due to forest fires and urbanization.

The blooming of cherry blossoms (sakura) at Shinto shrines, such as Fushimi Inari Taisha, is far more than spring decor—it embodies core Shinto ideals. Their fleeting bloom symbolizes mono no aware, a Japanese aesthetic concept (influenced by Buddhism but embraced in Shinto practices) that finds beauty in impermanence. This transience reminds us that nothing in life is eternal, yet its temporary nature holds profound value. In the brief life of each flower lies a lesson: to cherish the present and honor beauty that exists only in fleeting moments.

Spring’s cherry blossoms also mirror Shinto themes of renewal. As the season marks new beginnings, the blooms align metaphorically with purification rituals (harae) that cleanse the old to welcome the new. While Shinto purification formally uses water, salt, or paper streamers (shide), the sakura’s cyclical rebirth echoes this spiritual refreshment, reflecting nature’s endless cycle of death and regeneration.

In Shinto, cherry trees are not worshipped like shinboku (sacred trees such as cedars or cypresses, which house kami or spirits). Yet their blossoms, with their ethereal beauty, evoke the belief that kami dwell in all nature. Though not objects of direct veneration, sakura act as bridges between the human and divine. During hanami (flower viewing), their fragile splendor invites quiet reflection, gratitude, and awe for the interconnectedness of life.

Hanami, then, transcends mere aesthetic celebration. It becomes a meditative practice—an acknowledgment of life’s fragility and a tribute to nature’s wisdom. In their short-lived glory, cherry blossoms teach us to embrace impermanence, respect the natural world, and recognize the sacred in every season.

Every year the Perito Moreno glacier generate expectations in the world relative to its breakup. Some data on its characteristics and its history will help us understand this phenomenon.

Los Glaciares National Park was created in 1937 for the preservation of the glaciers and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO to preserve its flora and fauna in danger of extinction.

There are many myths and comments on the Perito Moreno glacier and its behavior that every year surprise and invites tourists from around the world.

The breaking of the Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the most impressive natural phenomena that have been seen in recent times.

It is often said that the rupture of Moreno is a phenomenon that repeats cyclically every 3 or 4 years but this only occurred regularly in recent years.

The catwalk "Endless Sunset" (2020) is an installation by Patrick Tuttofuoco, designed to enhance and elevate to a work of art that catwalk that runs from the new part of the city to the historic center of Peccioli, in the province of Pisa.

A work on the territory and for the territory... The artist has focused his work on the territory, with the aim of creating something that speaks of it and that, at the same time, is accessible to a large number of people. With the new installation "Endless Sunset" in Peccioli, Patrick Tuttofuoco has given shape to his largest sculptural intervention. A work open to interpretation not only by the public accustomed to the languages of contemporary art. Tuttofuoco has worked on a pre-existing pedestrian catwalk, 72m long and placed at a height of 30m. A work that involved designers, structural engineers and architects, essential figures for an operation of this magnitude.

A colored spiral between tradition and innovation... Patrick Tuttofuoco's sculpture is articulated in a colored spiral that wraps around the walkway that connects the new part to the historic center of Peccioli. A colored spiral, between tradition and innovation, wraps around passers-by. The idea was to choose a "simple" shape, which could then be developed, especially conceptually, in the circle. Cyclicality, the sense of flowing, "Endless Sunset" is an endless spiral with which you travel through time. The color gradient chosen to apply the color on this installation is that of the 45 minutes before sunset. The colored spiral fits into the context of the Tuscan countryside - a landscape with which it has confronted itself in every creative and structural phase - respecting its beauty.

The photograph captures the vivid scene of crimson and orange Daylilies in the aftermath of a summer rain. The petals, splashed with drops that reflect the subdued daylight, appear invigorated and richly colored. The dynamic range of reds to oranges in the petals creates a visual warmth that contrasts with the cool freshness left by the rain. Each bloom is in a different stage of its life cycle, some vibrant and full, others gently wilting, a natural tapestry of growth and senescence. The green leaves, robust and sword-like, cradle the flowers, their dark color making the reds and oranges pop even more dramatically. This ensemble of Daylilies, captured with raindrops that amplify their allure, presents a scene of natural vibrancy and the cyclical beauty of the garden in the rain.
