Trying to find other ways to capture an Erdek sunset...

One of a number of branches, I think this was the first store opened, located in Sawbridgeworth. I bought a cycle from here in the very early 1980s, so long ago I went up on a Green Line Route 718 to collect it, having seen the advert for this cycle in a local paper.

I rode it home but one of the cranks kept coming loose. A man on duty in an AA (car breakdown service) box on the outskirts of Epping fixed it for me (remember manned boxes?) and I rode home without issue. I kept the cycle for a number of years.

Cycles for 2021... Covid cycles. Wave after wave. Nature's cycles, accentuated and accelerated. Electronic cycles, increasing towards Kurzweil's Singularity.

Slovenia is a country that takes care of cyclists, by building bicycle paths wherever it can. Car drivers are quite tolerant towards cyclists. And landscapes like this can only invite you for another ride. On the way from Brežice to Kostanjevica on Krka.

The morning mist slowly disappears between the trees, the golden autumn leaves fall to the ground and have to stay there. Annual cycle.

Leaves fall, decomposers turn them into soil, new life grows in the soil.

"The atmosphere, the earth, the water and the water cycle - those things are good gifts. The ecosystems, the ecosphere, those are good gifts. We have to regard them as gifts because we couldn't make them. We have to regard them as good gifts because we couldn't live without them." ---Wendell Berry

I took this image while cycling on RAGBRAI XLIX, the massive bicycle ride across Iowa. I always got up early to take advantage of the wonderful morning photography and lower temperatures.
