THE GRUMMAN MARTLET SINGLE-SEAT FIGHTER
The Martlet is another of those tubby little American fighters which look like flying barrels. In general appearance, it is not unlike the Buffalo, though its square-cut wing-tips and more tapered fuselage should prevent confusion between the two types.
Like the Buffalo, the Martlet is in service with the Fleet Air Arm. Very little has been said yet about the Martlet's work, but it is safe to say that some of our newer aircraft carriers have Martlets aboard.
This aircraft should give a very good account of itself over the sea because it has the three things essential to an F.A.A. fighter: speed, manoeuvrability, and range. Its maximum range is 1,150 miles, which would enable it to be used as a fast scouting plane as well as for immediate protection of the Fleet or of convoys.
An unusual feature in the Martlet is the provision of two small windows under the pilot's feet, to enable him to have more than the normal look-out below.
It is known that the Martlet has already had encounters with
the Luftwaffe and has acquitted itself very well.

The Grumman Wildcat and the Grumman Martlet are essentially the same aircraft - the Martlet being the RAF variant. This IWM variant started life in the USA in 1945 before moving to IWM in 1993

When glaciers cut through the Hudson Valley and the sea levels rose, they created a fjord and, of course, some mountains. You're looking at Breakneck Ridge from Storm King Mountain. The fjord came to be known as the Hudson River. The lower half of the river is now a tidal estuary that occupies the Hudson Fjord. The fjord is estimated to have formed between 26,000 and 13,300 years ago.
Not sure where this guy lives. Just came over this morning to say hi. Seems friendly enough.

The Barbours Cut container terminal in the Port of Houston sends traffic to the rest of the country via shuttle trains that run to UP and BNSF's primary Houston-area intermodal facilities.
Here is UP's shuttle train, MBCHO (which is symboled as a manifest train), rolling through Deer Park Jct on the south side of the Houston Ship Channel.
In another 20 miles or so, the train will arrive and make connections at UP's Houston Intermodal Terminal at Settegast Yard.
The track in the foreground leads to Frontier Logistics's large warehouse and small SIT yard. They're switching this morning, hence the blue flag placed on the lead.
