The design is by Bill Banford. The client had a new home that needed an outdoor entertaining area. She requested a deck and screened in gazebo. The design team created a custom gazebo with intricate details while maximizing the space without taking too much away from the yard. They also did not want a standard deck so we gave them a shaped deck with ample space to entertain.

This view was very cluttered, but at almost 28' in total length, there was not room in the builder's yard to get a clear shot of the entire rig!

This one's been banged around, straightened out, relacquered, and banged around again. It needs a chem-cleaning inside; there's plenty of green a regular bath won't get out. Lots of red-rot on the mouthpipe assembly.
Even so, it plays great, which kills me because I paid I think $65.00 total for it.
This is not the original lacquer, and I seriously doubt it was sent back to the factory for the refinish. Further, the repairs on the lead-pipe assembly are lacquered over. Either the repairs had already been made when it was refinished, or the owner had it repaired and refinished at the same time; though if the latter's the case you would think he would have had the lead-pipe replaced during the repair.
Given how well it plays as-is, could be the owner thought he'd leave well enough alone and refinish the horn without replacing the lead-pipe!

This view of the back showcases the laminations of the body. Various different species of hard woods were used, alternating colors as much as possible. Control cavity is completely lined in copper foil, the wood cover is contoured to match that of the body.
Built from reclaimed marble, recovered by reuse action (reuseaction.com) from a lavatory renovation in one of the Buffalo Public Schools. It was a stall partition, so a close inspection shows who loved who, and all sorts of school age nonsense scratched into the marble. We cut it down to size for the customer and left the markings in the marble as part of its charm. The legs, undercarriage and mounting brackets are all made of reclaimed house trim. The marble installed originally in the 1920s, most likely by Italian immigrant craftsmen. In this city the old wood work was done by Poles and Germans, while the stone work was done by the Italians. crafts they brought from their home countries. Without rescuing this material it (and its heritage) would be in the landfill.
Each piece we build is unique and imbued with history...and keeping materials out of landfills.
