Lake Orta is a northern Italian lake in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. It is about 23 km west of Lake Maggiore and belongs partly to the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and partly to the province of Novara.

Panorama du belvédère sur la Via Santuario, près de la station du funiculaire de Madonna del Sasso, Locarno, canton du Tessin, Suisse.
Ce belvédère offre une vue magnifique sur le Sanctuario della Madonna del Sasso, le lac Majeur (Lago Maggiore) et les montagnes environnantes (Préalpes de Lugano). Le Sanctuaire Madonna del Sasso, dont l’église date de 1596, est situé sur un éperon de granit au-dessus du lac d'Orta à 638 m d'altitude, dans la commune de Madonna del Sasso.
De la place devant l'église, appelée « le balcon du Cusio », on peut aussi voir un large panorama du lac Majeur, du Mottarone, des Alpes et du Novarais. Le sanctuaire est constitué par l'église, le clocher et la maison paroissiale.

"The Binntal (German: "Binn valley") is a valley of the Alps, located on the north side of the Lepontine Alps in the Swiss canton of Valais. The valley is drained by the Binna, a tributary of the Rhone, at Grengiols. The valley is named after Binn (1,400 m), the main settlement. Other villages or localities are Ausserbinn (1,291 m), Heiligkreuz (1,458 m) and Fäld (1,547 m).
The mountains in the Binntal generally exceed 3,000 metres. The highest are the Helsenhorn, the Turbhorn and the Ofenhorn. On the upper east side of the valley, the Albrun Pass connects it with the Italian Valle Devero.

La Binntal est mondialement connue pour ses minéraux dont certains sont uniques. Elle se fait également connaître par son parc paysager, le parc paysager de la vallée de Binn.
Das Binntal - auch unter Binnatal bekannt - ist ein Tal im südlichen Teil des Bezirks Goms im Kanton Wallis in der Schweiz. Das Binntal ist ein Seitental des Rhonetals. Das Tal ist beinahe deckungsgleich mit dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Binn, die Hauptsiedlung ist Schmidighischere. Die Wirtschaft ist vom Tourismus und der Landwirtschaft geprägt. Ein Grossteil des Tales steht im Bundesinventar der Landschaften und Naturdenkmäler der Schweiz. 2005 lebten etwa 200 Personen, verteilt auf verschiedene Weiler, im Tal.

È percorsa da affluenti e sub-affluenti del Rodano che si immettono nel Rodano presso Ernen.
Il capoluogo è Binn il quale ricopre gran parte della valle con la sua superficie, mentre la parte restante della valle, la terminale, è occupata dal comune di Erne.
Nel 1936-38 fu costruito il prolungamento di 1,9 km della strada per la Bocchetta d'Arbola (in tedesco Albrunpass) (2409 metri) il quale collega la valle con l'Italia.
Fiorente è anche il turismo."

Eine Birke auf dem Monte Mottarone hoch über dem Lago Maggiore in Italien. Spannend, wie viele Birken und Birkenwälder es dort gibt, das hatte ich in dieser Lage gar nicht erwartet!
Non sono riuscito resistere alla tentazione, così ho convertito lo scatto in bianco e nero. Devo ammettere tutta la mia soddisfazione per il risultato ottenuto (e per me non è assolutamente cosa facile, dato il piglio critico che mi cattura quando esamino le foto che ho scattato).
Il bw ha sempre un suo intramontabile fascino. Racconta le immagini attraverso una poetica che non conosce tempo oltre che stimolare l'immaginazione. I particolari che si riescono a cogliere permettono un'indagine accurata di quanto si è riuscito a catturare aprendo mondi infiniti di lettura.

The Maggiore Theatre, also known as the Multifunctional Events Centre (CEM), is a cultural establishment situated in Verbania.
This theatre was officially opened on June 11, 2016. The architectural design was the product of collaboration among an international team including, among others, Peter Cook, Salvador Pérez Arroyo, Bargone Associati, and Bianchini & Lusiardi Associati, with the executive phase of the project being completed by architects Giancarlo Marzorati and Fabrizio Bianchetti.
The theatre, which overlooks Lake Maggiore near the mouth of the San Bernardino, has a main hall and a second hall, which are combined into a single, multifunctional hall for up to 950 spectators. The complex also has an outdoor amphitheatre with tiered seating for 2,000 people.

Omegna is a municipality situated in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province within the Piedmont region of Italy. Positioned approximately 13 kilometers southwest of Verbania, it is traversed by the Nigoglia, the sole outflow of the lake. This area, including the lake and its tributaries—among them the Strona, which descends from the striking Val Strona into Lake Orta—is nestled in a picturesque setting renowned for both its natural beauty and cultural significance. A visit to this locale comes highly recommended.
The Giardini Botanici Villa Taranto (16 hectares) are botanical gardens located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Pallanza, Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Italy.
The gardens were established 1931-1940 by Scotsman Neil McEacharn who bought an existing villa and its neighboring estates, cut down more than 2000 trees, and undertook substantial changes to the landscape
Today the gardens contain nearly 20,000 plant varieties, representing more than 3,000 species, set among 7 km of paths. Among its collections are azalea, cornus, greenhouses of Victoria amazonica, and 300 types of dahlias. It also contains a small herbarium and the founder's mausoleum.

The Church of Sant'Ambrogio stands as a noteworthy edifice. It manifests as a late-Romanesque structure, comprising a central nave flanked by two aisles, alongside lateral chapels. The bell tower predominantly retains its medieval character. A visit to this locale comes highly recommended.

Pella, sur la rive occidentale du lac d’Orta, fait partie des bourgs les plus anciens et les plus riches en histoire du territoire de Cusio. Une roche utilisée pour la coupellation découverte récemment prouve que Pella était déjà habité à l’âge du fer : le long de l’ancien parcours des tailleurs de pierre, on peut observer diverses coupelles gravées sur un rocher, avec leur canal d’écoulement, qui étaient probablement utilisées dans le cadre d’un rite de la fertilité.
Pella, on the western bank of the lake of Orta, been a part of villages the oldest and the richest in history of the territory of Cusio. A rock used for the bare coupellation recently proves that Pella was already inhabited in the Iron Age: along the old route of the stone-cutters, we can observe diverse small dishes engraved on a rock, with their channel of selling, which were probably used for of a rite of the fertility.
Una coppia guarda il lungolago di Pella da un molo di legno. Attorno l'incanto del Cusio in una domenica di sole ruggente. Anche se il caldo era insopportabile, non ho saputo resistere all'improvvisa ispirazione di questa vista.

Isola Bella est une des Îles Borromées, sur le lac Majeur. Située dans le golfe Borromée, à 400 m environ au large de la ville de Stresa, elle mesure 320 m de longueur sur 180 m de largeur. Isola Bella, dont le nom vient de celui de la comtesse Isabelle Borromée (Isabella Borromeo), est entièrement occupée par le palais Borromeo et ses jardins. Le palais Borromée est un château baroque, datant principalement du XVIIe siècle.
Isola Bella était connue sous le nom d’isola inferiore ou isola di sotto (île inférieure ou île du bas) jusqu’en 1632. On y trouvait alors un petit village de pêcheurs. Cette année-là , le comte Charles III Borromée (Carlo III Borromeo) commença la construction d’un palais en l’honneur de sa femme Isabella d’Adda. Les travaux, interrompus par une épidémie de peste, furent achevés par les fils de Charles vers 1652 et les jardins en terrasses ne furent inaugurés qu’en 1671. Au cours des siècles suivants, la famille Borromeo en fit un centre mondain de première importance.
L’un des principaux événements historiques qui se déroulèrent à Isola Bella, outre le passage de Napoléon, fut la rencontre entre Benito Mussolini, Pierre Laval et MacDonald du 11 au 14 avril 1935 lors de la conférence de Stresa, dont les discussions eurent lieu dans le palais Borromée.
