Here is how I make a cobra glyph for the alphabetic sign for "dj". Curling back toward the head was a much rarer habit than trailing away from the head, but I have seen examples that resemble mine. In any case, if you wish to model yours on a more typical example, that is your choice. The rhythm of this one seems more natural to me, especially with a harder pen or rougher paper.

Sometimes cursive writing shouldn't be used. Like on a chalkboard featuring lunch options. Almost ordered a Jack Russell Salad or something.
