Naturally, no trip to Germany is complete without a few heaping helpings of currywurst. So delicious, and terrible for you!
I grilled the wurst on a George Foreman grill.
The sauce was from some recipe I found on the net.
Thanks to Chris for the OG dish and plastic fork.
One of many sausage samplings but this was the best! Not the best looking color combos out there ;)
Some of the places just boiled a sausage and poured sauce and sprinkled some curry. THIS one however had a juicy but bits of the sausage were on the edge of not burnt but with a crispy/crunchy fat/skin (like a really good potato chip) at the same time while being smothered in sauce. It's like crunchy bits in grill/fat they've been sitting in hasn't been changed in a while so it's rich and flavorful in it's own right, BUT hasn't gone rancid.
(Ok, the rye bread was boring but it gave some texture to the curry sauce vs. just licking the plate while standing on a cold street corner across from fancy dressed Opera goers at midnight.

Currywurst is a quickly-made dish of German origin consisting of steamed pork sausage cut into slices and seasoned with warm curry ketchup, regularly consisting of ketchup or tomato paste blended with generous amounts of curry powder, or a ready-made ketchup-based sauce seasoned with curry and other spices. It is frequently served at German 'Imbißbude' and from food trucks.
