Before Phuket became known for its beach and oceanside resorts, Phuket thrived in the 17th century for its wealth in tin, which attracted interest from European and Chinese traders. The Chinese, particularly from Fujian province, immigrated to Phuket to work in tin mining.

Our guide, a deeply spiritual Buddhist lady told us that Old Phuket Town, as seen in this picture, has been preserved and renovated by the government. Its historical and architectural development was shaped by Chinese and European influences. Previously, it was a hub for the tin mining and rubber industries. The town was built by Chinese businessmen, particularly Hokkien immigrants who settled in Phuket, along with traders and investors from Singapore, Malaysia, and Europe. Together, they helped establish businesses, including tin smelting factories, rubber plantations, and trading hubs. Over time, Phuket evolved into a major tourist destination.

Rising proudly in the heart of Old Havana, the Bacardi Building is a jewel of Art Deco elegance and one of Cuba’s most iconic landmarks. Completed in 1930 as the headquarters of the Bacardi Rum Company, its bold geometric lines, rich marble and granite interiors, and colorful terra-cotta façade made it a symbol of modern ambition in the Caribbean. Crowned by the famous bronze bat—the company’s emblem—it once stood as the tallest building in Havana and remains a striking reminder of the city’s golden age of architecture.

Today, the Bacardi Building is celebrated as one of the finest examples of Art Deco in Latin America, a fusion of Cuban spirit and international style that continues to captivate travelers, photographers, and lovers of design.

Sighnaghi, perched on a hilltop in Georgia’s eastern Kakheti wine region, is one of the country’s most charming towns. Known as the “City of Love,” it enchants visitors with its cobblestone streets, colorful wooden balconies, and sweeping views over the Alazani Valley and the distant Caucasus Mountains. The town is still surrounded by an 18th-century defensive wall, built under King Erekle II, with 23 watchtowers that once protected it from invasions. Today, you can walk along parts of this wall and enjoy breathtaking panoramas. In this photo, you see a picturesque street in Sighnaghi. On the left are cozy cafés and souvenir shops shaded by autumn-colored trees, while on the right stands the historic town wall with its iconic archway. A weathered, multicolored car painted with the word Sighnaghi – topped with a traditional qvevri wine amphora – catches the eye, symbolizing the region’s ancient 8,000-year-old wine tradition. This scene perfectly captures the town’s essence: a blend of history, hospitality, and timeless charm, where life moves at a slower, more graceful pace.

While driving up the challenging Sani Pass into Lesotho, I came across this Mosotho man carrying sticks and wood up the mountain. His survival depends on gathering and trading this wood for food each day. Life in these remote, harsh environments is tough, and seeing this firsthand truly makes you reflect on the difficulties some face just to meet basic needs. It's a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of people in communities far from the modern conveniences we're used to.

A brief moment captured along Stockholm’s cobbled veins, where modern rhythms merge with old-world grandeur. Hotel Kungsträdgården stands stoic against the pale Scandinavian light, while the golden arches of McDonald’s inject a subtle wink of global culture. Two figures drift through frame—one in pink, the other in dark layers—ghostlike in motion, grounding the scene in daily life. Vertical signage and deep shadows play with the geometry of the city, leading the eye toward stories not told, just felt.
