Abandoned house shot from Montana with a cosmic horror monster generated in openArt.AI.

In the 6th grade, walking quickly past Old Man Thompson’s ‘haunted’ abandoned house on the way home from school filled me with dread and reluctant fascination.

A recurring dream since then of being in an abandoned house on a hill while a giant presence or creature roams outside is the inspiration for this photo.

As an old man, abandoned houses appeal with their beauty and hints of evocative stories, but honestly, shooting them alone at night sometimes still gives me the shivers like Old Man Thompson’s house did 50 years ago.

Hair is an oldie but goodie from Lelutka.

For those who know, the title needs no explanation. HP was one of the early writers in The Horror Genre. He wrote many story such as At The Mountains of Madnes and The Call of Cthulu. Many later writer credited him with influencing them. He never really made a living when he was alive but was recognized after his death.

The ? mark has a double Meaning since many of his storys dealing with horror and the fact that his body is not buried here but nearby in The family crypt, Same Family plot that the stone is on.. Some one actually tried to dig the body up years before with no success.

not really ancient mythology but I always loved Lovecraft.

Cthulhu is a fictional cosmic entity created by horror author H. P. Lovecraft in 1926, first appearing in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu" when it was published in Weird Tales in 1928.

Cthulhu is one of the central Great Old Ones of the Lovecraft Mythos. It is often cited for the extreme descriptions given of its hideous appearance, its gargantuan size, and the abject terror that it evokes. Cthulhu is often referred to in science fiction and fantasy circles as a tongue-in-cheek shorthand for extreme horror or evil.

Now, I knew I also wanted a crown of horns as beautiful and terrifying as would be expected of an Eldritch Horror of the Deep. That's where these horns come into play. Issue 60 of Artists Down Under magazine is now available. That's five years of the magazine, from such a lovely group of people that I am very pleased and honoured to be assocaited with.

The challenge theme for the magazine was "Octopus", my piece of digital art is of Cthulhu, a fictional cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft. He took octopus form and is often depicted in semi-human form with octopus tentacles coming from his head.

The magazine contains this image of mine, and another image of mine (my first double page spread I think), as well as my regular Photoshop article, which this month is entitled "Five Photoshop Tips You May Not Know" - I hope there is one that's useful for you.

As I watched, to my astonishment, a shape began to materialize in the clouds. A phalanx of cloudy projections shot forth, as if wrapping around some sort of titanic appendages. The clouds were thick enough to conceal the texture of these monstrous extremities but were thin enough to betray their form. As the shadowy leviathan began to take more definite shape its appearance only became more alien. There was nothing about the behemoth that seemed tethered to the physical realm. Its visage was hideous and antediluvian – simply to gaze upon it was to court madness…

Chthonic mineral formations ooze out of the walls in sections and are brightly coloured and very organic looking. They looked creepy? HP Lovecraft and Chuthulu... What was that noise behind us in the tunnel...? Someone investigating our presence? A fellow urbexer? Or one of The Elder race...? (Our only light in the dark length of the long tunnel was our small head-torches. Additional lighting here was thanks to a few sweeps of lightpainting from my Lenser P7)

Surreal experiences in the longest (1313yds) of Glasgows abandoned railway tunnels. An earlier title 'Tunnel of Goats' comes from one of those bits of random graffiti that seem to assume sinister significance at 11 o'clock at night half a mile underground. The abandoned car is a legend in urban exploring circles. We enhanced its incongruity with some smoke bombs...
