When we were driving in both the Great Smoky Mountains NP and the Blue Ridge National Parkway the streams were full and running fast. The Waterfalls were all flowing. As well the rock faces in many areas on the roads were wet and dripping water.
I tried to capture this with a back lit shot of the wet rocks as they dripped. With the slightly slow shutter speed and back lighting the drops made trails as they fell and splashed..
Taken with Nikon D80, a 50mm f/1.8 prime and SB-600 bounced, in Avrig, Sibiu, during winter holidays
Well that was intense! Not seen a thunderstorm like that for a while, found out how hard it is to try and photograph a bolt of lightning but got lucky with this shot
The theme: 'Crying People' occupies me for a while. I find it very challenging: to present a good photo of a crying person.
Specifically, with this photo I struggle for quiet some time: he was too close to me when I took the photo.
If I still remember correctly, the reason to his cry was that an older boy grabbed his snack from his hand
Israel is a tiny country; therefore, generally, people meet their relatives very often.
Today, my eldest daughter (24) flew to India for about half a year or so.
(it is very common among Israeli youngsters to go for a long trip, more or less at this stage of life).
She was never away for such a long time.
Therefore, in some senses, I can identify with him…
(she is the one in my buddy icon, some 24 years ago...)
p.s.
Was the kitsch painting of 'The Crying Boy' famous in your countries (during the '70s-'80s) too?
This was an amazing experience. when we were driving to our camp we came across a giraffe carcass. It had recently been killed and as we looked we saw a new born or a very young baby lion cub. The mother had left it there to feed but when it had had enough it cried and cried. This alerted the mother and she soon appeared to rescue her little one. There are images that I have that show her gently picking it up with her teeth and taking it back to her resting place. The round bone you see to the left is part of the giraffes leg which gives you a little idea of just how small this little guy was. It was difficult to photograph this area as it was in amongst the trees but an incredible moment for us to observe.
Have a blessed day !
