The moral to this story: It's wise not to get inside your neighbors head. I remember the old days, when frogs ate flies. :)

The Savannah sparrow is one of the most common songbirds in all of North America and has a range that stretches out across most of the continent in various seasons. It breeds across most of Canada and Alaska as well as virtually all the northern states. It can be found primarily in open grasslands as well as in meadows, pastures, prairies, salt marshes, and tundra. In autumn, most Savannah sparrows migrate to the southern states as well as into Mexico and other parts of Central America.
During breeding season the Savannah sparrow feeds primarily on insects including beetles, flies, grasshopper, spiders, and millipedes. They forage by walking through grassy areas on the ground or among shrubs and short trees. They sometimes fly to catch insects midair, and those that live on the coast sometimes eat small crustaceans on beaches. The Savannah sparrow also eats a variety of seeds and berries.
I found this and ten thousand other Savannah Sparrows (Okay maybe not that many) along Joe Overstreet Road. Osceola County, Florida.

Sally Lightfoot Crab in among the rocks on the beach of Bartholome Island in the Galapagos.
According to Wikipedia, Grapsus grapsus is one of the most common crabs along the western coast of the Americas. It is known variously as, "red rock crab", "abuete negro", and along with crabs such as Percnon gibbesi as, "Sally Lightfoot". The crab is about eight inches in size.
Grapsus grapsus is found along the Pacific coast of Mexico, Central America, South America (as far south as northern Peru), and on nearby islands, including the Galápagos Islands. It is also found along the Atlantic coast of South America but is replaced in the eastern Atlantic Ocean (Ascension Island and West Africa) by its congener Grapsus adscensionis.
This crab lives among the rocks at the often turbulent, windy shore, just above the limit of the sea spray. It feeds on algae primarily, sometimes sampling other plant matter and dead animals. It is a quick-moving and agile crab, and hard to catch. Not considered very edible by humans, it is used as bait by fishermen.
G. grapsus has been observed in an apparent cleaning symbiosis taking ticks from marine iguanas on the Galápagos Islands. Grapsus grapsus was collected by Charles Darwin during his voyages on HMS Beagle. – Wikipedia

Pallas's gull (Ichthyaetus ichthyaetus) is a large bird species. As is the case with many gulls, it has traditionally been placed in the genus Larus. The scientific name is from Ancient Greek. Ichthyaetus is from ikhthus, "fish", and aetos, "eagle"
This species breeds in colonies in marshes and islands from southern Russia to Mongolia. It is migratory, wintering in the eastern Mediterranean, Arabia and Indian subcontinent. This gull nests on the ground, laying between two and four eggs.
This is a very large gull, being easily the world's largest black-headed gull and the third largest species of gull in the world, after the great black-backed gull and the glaucous gull. It measures 55–72 cm (22–28 in) in length with a 142 to 170 cm (56 to 67 in) wingspan. Weight can vary from 0.96–2.1 kg (2.1–4.6 lb), with an average of 1.6 kg (3.5 lb) in males and 1.22 kg (2.7 lb) in females.
This bird has a deep, rather nasal flight-call which resembles the call of the lesser black-backed gull. Although they are noisy at colonies, Pallas's gulls are mostly silent when breeding.
These birds are predatory, taking fish, crustaceans, insects and even small mammals.

They live in the seas and oceans around the world, but occasionally
walk onto the shore.
Although they may look like creepy crawly spiders they actually have more legs than spiders!!
Snowy egret/garceta nívea/белая американская цапля
The snowy egret is native to North, Central and South America.
Adult snowy egrets are entirely white apart from the yellow lores between the long black bill and the eye, black legs, and bright yellow feet. The nape and neck bear long, shaggy plumes known as aigrettes. Immature snowy egrets have duller, greenish legs. The birds eat fish, crustaceans, insects, small reptiles, snails, frogs, worms and crayfish.

Part bird, part submarine, the Pied-billed Grebe is common across much of North America. These small brown birds have unusually thick bills that turn silver and black in summer.
These expert divers inhabit sluggish rivers, freshwater marshes, lakes, and estuaries. They use their chunky bills to kill and eat large crustaceans along with a great variety of fish, amphibians, insects, and other invertebrates.
Rarely seen in flight and often hidden amid vegetation, Pied-billed Grebes announce their presence with loud, far-reaching calls.
Lobed (not webbed) toes assist with swimming. Pied-billed Grebes pay for their aquatic prowess on land, where they walk awkwardly.
Pied-billed Grebe chicks typically leave the nest the first day after hatching and spend much of their first week riding around on a parent’s back.
Pied-billed Grebes are fairly poor fliers and typically stay on the water.
Pied-billed Grebes can trap water in their feathers, giving them great control over their buoyancy. They can sink deeply or stay just at or below the surface, exposing as much or as little of the body as they wish. When in danger, Pied-billed Grebes sometimes make a dramatic “crash-dive” to get away. A crash-diving grebe pushes its body down with its wings thrust outward. Its tail and head disappears last, while the bird kicks water several feet into the air. – Wikipedia

The Hooded Mergansers have been loving the Crawfish lately. But being lucky enough to catch one isn't enough. You also have to be lucky enough to outrun your pond mates. This one was willing to walk on water in order to keep that from happening. OK… run on water.
And I was lucky enough to click the shutter when he did.

The final sunrise on my Madeira holiday and I walked down to the rocks at the front of our hotel complex. I had spotted this little pool of water amongst the black volcanic rocks earlier in the week and thought the reflections of the pre-sunrise clouds would look good in them, if we had a decent sunrise.
What I didn't expect was to see this crab on the side of the pool when I went down here. So here is an early morning view looking towards the port of Funchal. A lovely way to end a blissful weeks holiday here.

The tricolored heron (Egretta tricolor), formerly known as
the Louisiana heron, is a small species of heron that is native to coastal parts of the Americas. In the Atlantic region in ranges from northeastern United States, south along the coast, through the Mexican Gulf and the Caribbean, to northern South America as far south as Brazil. In the Pacific region it ranges from Peru to California, but it is only a non-breeding visitor to the far north.
Tri-colored heron's breed in swamps and other coastal habitats. It nests in colonies, often with other herons, usually on platforms of sticks in trees or shrubs. In each clutch, 3–7 eggs are typically laid.
Adults have a blue-grey head, neck, back and upperwings, with a white line along the neck. The belly is white. In breeding plumage, they have long blue filamentous plumes on the head and neck, and buff ones on the back.
The tricolored heron stalks its prey in shallow or deeper water, often running as it does so. It eats fish, crustaceans, reptiles, and insects.
The beautiful Pied Avocet - Recurvirostra avosetta - is a wading bird in the same family as the Stilt. Although a wader, it has webbed feet so is also quite happy swimming as it looks for food which it does be sweeping its long upcurved bill from side to side looking for aquatic insects, crustaceans, worms and other small creatures. Living throughout temperate Europe and Western and Central Asia, they prefer brackish or saline wetlands, estuaries and other such areas where insect life is prevalent but they will also feed on exposed mudflats. The bird is the emblem of the RSPB. Seen from a hide at Martin Mere Wetlands.

From the world's largest shell bank Uddevalla/Sweden.
Here mainly stone clam and giant barnacles have collected together to form the gigantic land mass.
The Shell bank in Uddevalla was formed over 11,000 years ago when the ice age thawed. Then conditions for life in the water improved, and so the remnants of all the different species of shellfish, molluscs, crustaceans and other marine life accumulated.
It is estimated there has been over 1 million cubic meters of bio mass in the shell bank, but now barely more than 10 percent remains.

The Pied Kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) is a water bird and is found widely distributed across Africa and Asia. Its black and white plumage, crest and the habit of hovering over clear lakes and rivers before diving for fish make it distinctive.
Males have a double band across the breast while females have a single gorget that is often broken in the middle. They are usually found in pairs or small family parties. When perched, they often bob their head and flick up their tail.
This kingfisher feeds mainly on fish, although it will take crustaceans and large aquatic insects such as dragonfly larvae. It usually hunts by hovering over the water to detect prey and diving vertically down bill-first to capture fish. When not foraging, they have a straight rapid flight and have been observed flying at nearly 50 km/h.
This beautiful Pied Kingfisher was photographed hovering before the dive, on a bird walk along the shores of Lake Naivasha, Kenya.

From Wikipedia - The roseate spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) (sometimes placed in its own genus Ajaja) is a gregarious wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family, Threskiornithidae. It is a resident breeder in South America mostly east of the Andes, and in coastal regions of the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, the Gulf Coast of the United States and on central Florida's Atlantic coast Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge adjoined with NASA Kennedy Space Center.
This species feeds in shallow fresh or coastal waters by swinging its bill from side to side as it steadily walks through the water, often in groups. The spoon-shaped bill allows it to sift easily through mud. It feeds on crustaceans, aquatic insects, frogs, newts and very small fish ignored by larger waders. In the United States, a popular place to observe roseate spoonbills is "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Florida. Roseate spoonbills must compete for food with snowy egrets, great egrets, tricolored herons and American white pelicans.
The roseate spoonbill nests in shrubs or trees, often mangroves, laying two to five eggs, which are whitish with brown markings. Immature birds have white, feathered heads, and the pink of the plumage is paler. The bill is yellowish or pinkish.
