The cruise ship Norwegian Star visits Bergen, back in 2015.
They were great photo objects where they lay at the quay and when they sailed past the living room window, but do I miss it?
At least I do not miss the noise from the ships' loudspeaker system, the exhaust and all the bus traffic that comes with it.
But I feel deep sympathy and compassion with all the good crews who are now without a job. It's just sad. The same applies to all those who have made a living in this industry, in all countries.
"From my archive."
Überführung der "Odyssey of the Seas" von der Meyer Werft in Papenburg über die Ems nach Eemshaven
I made a seven minute video of the ship slowly getting closer; but the file is probably too large for Flickr.

Radiance of the Seas and Ruby Princess
Thursday morning I cycled 31km roundtrip from home to downtown Victoria and back home via Dallas Road and around the Inner Harbour.
3,998 passenger capacity ; 169,116 gross tonnage
Completed Nov 2019 ; 333m length
Largest NCL ship and largest cruise ship (by GT) to visit Vancouver. Still only the 21st largest cruise ship in the world
A lot of the cruise ships not in use at the moment are just kind of scattered around the coast line off our local beaches. Also Bournemouth Airport, normally with just the daily TUI/Ryan Air flights has been choc-a-bloc full of half the BA fleet which has been quite an impressive sight but difficult to photograph due to the high perimeters.
I went here after the beach huts with a blue hour shot in mind. However I went a bit blank on the settings, had my ISO quite high at first which wasn't really necessary due to the moonlight. Although the ship is not going anywhere, its also still moving. I really wish I had a longer lens to pick up more of the detail in the moon.
Only crew are on board this ship at the moment.
Anyway I like to think this has quite a romantic feel to it.
A side view of this cruise ship as it came into New London, CT recently.
No invites to groups please.
A cruise ship passes the lighthouse at Point Atkinson and Eagle Harbour in West Vancouver. The road you see carved into the mountain is the TransCanada Highway where it splits, left to go to the BC Ferries Terminal in Horseshoe Bay, or right to the Sea to Sky Highway. Surprisingly, you can see the rugged tip of Anvil Island in the Howe Sound and Mount Tantalus still capped with snow. Regent Seven Seas Cruises Seven Sea Mariner departed from Vancouver on a 28 night cruise to New York City with a stop over in San Francisco. This was shot with the full extent of my telephoto lens across English Bay. Captured at Wreck Beach in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ~ August 24, 2016 💘
Another of the big cruise ships that we kept seeing. This one can take 4216 passengers and a crew of 1733.

Some old artwork, found when I was clearing out zipdisks. It's one of the last things I did when at university, and I'm not really sure if I made any better images after this.
I'm going to write about this on my blog in a bit.
