Crown Chakra - 7 Sacred Chakras
This is the first of the series of the 7 Sacred Chakra Cards. We started with the Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara, because it is the highest chakra on the body and is is where all chakras emanate from. The Sahasrara is described as a lotus flower with 1,000 petals of different colors and it is said to be the most subtle chakra in the system, relating to pure consciousness.
Sahasrara is located at the crown of the head. The gift of this chakra is experiencing unity and the selfless realization that everything is connected at a fundamental level. It receives energy to sustain life and it gives back the personal energy to unite with the collective pool of consciousness. It is the meeting point between finite (the body and the ego) and infinite (the universe and soul).

"Sacred Lotus" -2010 (Watercolor) 11"x14"
The Thousand-Petaled Lotus is the symbol for the 7th Chakra of the bodies innate energy conductors. The seven major chakras of the body each govern different aspects that make up the whole Self. The element of the 7th Chakra; a.k.a. the Crown Chakra, is thought and its purpose is to bring understanding. It's color is violet and it's location resides in the Cerebral Cortex of the brain. The work of finding a healthy balance in this chakra involves witnessing the ebb and flow of the cosmos in its infinite manifestations. A balanced "Crown" will let go of attachment and control and be open to the miracles of witnessing. It is here to help "Let go and let god."

This is my chakra project, It was a journey which taught me about myself and others. The simple images represent first a merge between the conscious and the subconscious and explores the physical connection of that hyperconscious with the human body (through the endocrine system and nervous system) and our physical surroundings. Each chakra corresponds to an element and a glad within the endocrine system/a part of the body where the energy of that chakra resides in a swirl of energy.
