Testing the good old 100-400 on the R5 to see how it compares to the 100-500. Outside of it being 100mm less reach, I find the quality to be the same in terms of sharpness and AF response.

Best place to get some nice head-on shots. Given the longer length with this lens, it did allow me to maneuver around to find a backdrop that was void of any sponsors advertisements. Only had to dodge a few media photographers.
Finally having a chance to start editing photos from a myriad of events over the past month using a rented EOS R5. I was also able to rent the 100-500mm but will initially be focusing on what the 800mm has to offer on this camera. Thoughts and impressions welcomed.

One of many challenge areas to shoot from as a spectator, due to the fencing and the distance to the fence, through it, and to the subject. Aside from some bokeh highlights from the sun hitting the fencing, I think it did a decent job cutting through.
Finally having a chance to start editing photos from a myriad of events over the past month using a rented EOS R5. I was also able to rent the 100-500mm but will initially be focusing on what the 800mm has to offer on this camera. Thoughts and impressions welcomed.

Corner worker in 5a enthusiastically looking at the Aston running through the Inner Loop. Reaching all the way across the Inner Loop here. This lens was atrocious on the EOS-R when I was here in June but really worked like a champ on the R5.
