This is the outfield of Charlton Park's Cricket Ground. The Park is in SE London. I was watching my son play cricket. I was sat on the boundary. Depending on the size of your screen you may be able to see the cricketers in the distance.....
Thanks for visiting.....
Situated in The Lanes, the Cricketers is the oldest pub in Brighton. You can take a tour of the interior by clicking here
The Cricketers, Addiscombe Road. My regular and closest pub to home until a couple of years back when it became some sort of BBQ smoke house. That didn't last long and it reverted to being a pub, albeit not very good. It is now under refurbishment during the lockdown so let's hope it comes out better, despite being very blue.
The statue of a cricketer (The Spirit of Cricket) by Allan Sly serves as a reminder that In 1864 the Priory Marshes were levelled and drained and opened as a Cricket Ground. (see Wikipedia). These days there is a shopping centre here instead.
A breezy afternoon at Arundel Castle cricket ground with a cricketer chasing after his sunhat. which had been blown off by the wind.
'The Cricketers' in Black Lion Street was Graham Greene's favourite pub in Brighton; some letters from him to a former landlord are framed on a wall of the Thirties cocktail bar upstairs, now called 'The Greene Room'.

The man with the bat in the striped cap is a cricketer. I was tempted to use this cricketing phrase to tie together the main elements in this photograph: "Three ducks in a row is nothing to crow about."
In the arcane language of cricket a duck is to get out scoring zero runs. It is short for a "duck egg" which looks like a zero. Now a batsman who scored three ducks in a row would be in very bad form indeed. And of course, to "crow" about something is to act like a rooster. So much for this particular vernacular.

While walking a path through a small mangrove swamp, I came upon this green heron hunting in the open, on top of a lush green ground cover. I watched patiently as it moved stealthily and probed for its prey. After a few minutes, it struck and pulled out...a bland looking cricket. That was a minor letdown! No frog or fish or snake or lizard. It stayed on the hunt for a good length of time, plucking out another cricket every 5 - 10 minutes. It was still fun to watch and I was glad to have had the opportunity. Very little info on field crickets in the Caribbean, but it may be a Gryllis species, possibly
Gryllus bryanti.

This is a cracking pub for anyone who loves a great pint of real ale. Many handpumps. Very welcoming staff too. I didn't want to leave. So if you can, pay it a visit. Walking in is far easier than leaving.

Alexander Colin David Ingleby-Mackenzie OBE was an English first-class cricketer: a left-handed batsman who played for Hampshire between 1951 and 1966, captaining the county from 1958 to 1965 as Hampshire's last amateur captain and leading his side to their first County Championship in the 1961 season. He was later president of the Marylebone Cricket Club from 1996 to 1998, during which time women were first permitted to join.
