A crop of a great late afternoon light show kindly put on with help from the clouds, hills, trees and of course our closest star! Thanks nature, you rock!
Sunbeams at the Broekpolder, Vlaardingen. This area covers approximately one quarter of the Vlaardingen city area.
From 1958 to 1975 this area functioned as a huge depot for (heavily polluted) dredgings from the port of Rotterdam. It is now the main recreational site of the city.

Fifteen minutes prior to sundown. This would be the last of these effects as the bank of cloud along the horizon thickened, cutting out any chance of a sunset.

35 minutes prior to sundown. It was still very blustery when I took this image but the stormy weather that has been battering the UK over the last few days seems to be finally dying down at long last.

I came across some old files I hadn't processed at the time and I thought I'd had a go before I pay another visit to my old friend next month.
This was taken at my first ever visit to the wreck and I was rewarded with the most spectacular cloudy evening sky for June in Cyprus.
Only a phone photo but still those crespucular rays get me every time! Plus I like the tad of refracted (?) image around the edge of my knuckles.
This was taken with the in camera filter 'halo' giving it an interesting hue. So much fun these new toys!
Just back from a trip to Banff and Jasper Canada along with stops at Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP, and Grand Teton NP. We had a great time however, our trip with plagued with mostly clear blue skies and haze which lead to little wildlife. Our first morning in Banff we went to Lake Minnewanka and found some beautiful rays as the sun was coming up.
The trees will tell their secrets to those that tune in.

I took this a year ago on a very cold, foggy morning in Golden Ears Park. I don't see crepuscular rays like this often, and was totally in awe, as the sun shone through the fog.
You'll be seeing a few more from that day out, as I'm going through my archives again.
Wenn Sonnenlicht magisch wird ...
Wenn die Sonne hinter Wolken sich versteckt,
Ab und zu blinzelnd ihr Gesicht hervorstreckt,
Wenn Wolken große Fächer malen,
Dann nennt man dies' Spiel WOLKENSTRAHLEN.
(EGo)
As DBS Tug 60100 disappears towards Lostock Works in Northwich on this placid wintry afternoon, it's hard not to reflect on whether this may be one of the last times we see them down this way given the rumoured mothballing of these fine machines.
Or maybe it's a mere dream .........?

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend. Albert Camus.
Thank you so much everyone for all your thoughtful, wonderful and kind comments. I cannot convey really how much your support means to me - but please believe it is possibly and most probably more than you will ever know…Sue x
This morning's sunrise was as non-eventful - thick low clouds and colorless - as almost every morning so far this year. Caught a special moment when the sun hit an opening in the clouds, created beautiful crepuscular rays, which lasted for only a few minutes.
I hope you're having a good day/night, thanks for your visit! 🌺😊

Season of sunbeams coming again soon -- better than the continuous rain for photographers.
Much better on Black
Sunset in Wailea, Maui, Hawai'i
The weather was very active on Maui this trip, with some afternoons of rain, thunderstorms, and flash flooding interspersed with days of the more "traditional" blue skies and sunshine. While the weather had some downsides in terms of activities, the clouds did make for a lot of interesting photographic opportunities and some intense and dramatic sunsets, including this one where the sun seemed to be setting the clouds aflame.
Geographical Note: The partially visible land mass on the right hand side of the frame is the edge of the island of Lāna\'i.
Additional Note: For my friend `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ , who notices these things 😄, the camera clock is on PST, not Hawaiian time, so the time is off by 2 hours (photo was actually taken at 6:26pm).
This was a calm, yet stormy afternoon in Port Germein where small storms slowly developed but passed over quickly. I was mesmerised by the slow tidal movement over the sandflats half way along the Port Germein jetty. The crescent shaped bars of sand would quickly be swallowed up by the slight inward moving ripples which seemed to come in small sets. It is one of those places where despite having a fairly small tidal range, you can see the tidal movement as it creeps slowly in. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!
The sun is rising a Yosemite National Park's southern entrance. This is from Tunnel View. A scenic overlook just after exiting the tunnel on Wawona Rd. Bridalveil Fall can be seen off to the left. February is the time of year when the sun hits Bridalveil Fall just right and it looks like it's pouring lava down the mountain. #NPS #YosemiteNationalPark #TunnelView #sunrise #aube #Dämmerung
The colour counterpart of Looking towards Glenfeshie (I) [BW]. Although I did not visualise this image as monochrome, producing a monochrome version was easier and more natural than producing this version.
Subtle tones of a mountain landscape with crepuscular rays over Loch Kishorn to Skye. With Kishorn island Pabay and Longay islands & the Black Cuillin in the hazy distance.
