This proved to be my favorite Peruvian food of all, and I was only exposed to it in Iquitos where there are many icecream/cremolada shops.
A cremolada is a frozen sorbet-like concoction made out of local fruits such as camucamu, guanabana, strawberry, coconut etc and sugar syrup.
Since I am lactose intolerant, I fell in love with the cremolada made from Aguaje. It was thick and creamy like ice cream and the taste of it is like a cross between mango and pumpkin pie with nutmeg with an odd subtle gritty texture.
Ok I admit that on this day I ate 3 cremoladas in 3 differnt shops just so they wouldnt know how much of a pig I was.... :-D
In my defense, I will more than likely never eat it ever again *cry* and they were only 25 cents per glass AND yes I regretted it later on LOL!
