Five leaves taken from our Japanese Maple tree at the same time, showing the variation of leaf colour a few days ago. Arranged and processed for Looking Close on Friday theme: Creative with leaves.

"Art is the flower. Life is the green leaf." - Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Scottish architect, designer, water colourist and artist).
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 8th of November is "creative with leaves", where a simple picture of leaves is not enough for the theme: it has to be creative. Luckily for me I am short of neither leaves, nor creativity, and as soon as I saw the theme, I knew that this was the image I wanted to create.
This leaf flower is made up of different leaves from specimens in my garden. The leaves that make up the outer circle of “petals” come from my Evergreen Alder which grows in my front garden and provides shade to the bay windows at the front of the house. The leaves that make up the inner circle of “petals” comes from a Murraya which grows in my rear garden and is a survivor that has survived fallen trees on it twice. The flower centre is a Nasturtium leaf, the likes of which find their way into my salads, as I like their hot and fresh taste, and the stem is a tendril from the old Wisteria that grows the entire length of one side of my properly in a magnificent hedge. Once I had taken the photograph, I then searched for a quote to accompany it. I was delighted to find that the one above which I chose comes from one of my favourite architects and designers, Scotsman Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It made me smile. I hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!
🍁 "October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band." 🍁

Have a nice Friday and a good start into the weekend. 🌸
Many, many thanks for all your views, faves and comments.
Asians and particularly Indians can be very creative and also extremely resourceful so what better than a free leaf to use as a canvas for a bit of tourist art! On holiday in India many, many years ago we picked up a set of these delightful little paintings featuring different aspects of Indians at work.
As you can see, it’s not very big, total area about postcard size.

An unfinished oak leaf wreath, later I added tiny red and yellow pyracantha berries to it.

Autumn Emotion
by Nichita Stănescu
Autumn has come; cover my heart with something,
with the shadow of a tree or better yet, with your shadow.
I fear that sometimes I won’t see you again,
that sharp wings will grow on me, reaching to the clouds,
that you’ll hide away in a stranger's eye,
and it will close over you with a wormwood leaf.
And so, I draw close to the stones and fall silent,
I take the words and drown them in the sea.
I whistle up the moon, let it rise, and turn it
into a great love.

To the left is my dad’s old desk that I do my crafting on. I left it as-is when I got it. It doesn’t matter if I get paint, glue, etc on it.. but I do try not to. The piece of wood over the drawer pulls out to make a temporary second work area. I love working at his desk!!
Our Bunny was asking me if I was done yet. Yes, I can read her mind. lol.. She’s easier to read than most people. ;-) Anyhoo, hope you enjoy! Had fun w/this one. 🍁
