A fantastic hotel in the city center

Out of sight. Rarely passed. Worried and worn and flailed by the wind and rain of middle Ireland. Fading.

The Kawarau River is a river in the South Island of New Zealand. It drains Lake Wakatipu in northwestern Otago via the lake's Frankton Arm. The river flows generally eastwards for about 60 kilometres and passes through the steep Kawarau Gorge until it joins Lake Dunstan near Cromwell.

For about 4-5 weeks at the end of each year, the center of New Zealand's South Island bursts into color. Purple and pink and blue and yellow lupins sprout up along lake sides and in riverbeds in Mackenzie Country, making the already-stunning views even more incredible.

Lupins are not native to New Zealand – in fact, they're classified as an invasive species – but there's no denying that they are beautiful and make for a great photo backdrop.

Dahlia ‘Margaret Haggo’ (Dahlia). This genus has upright and bushy, early summer and early autumn flowering, tuberous, deciduous annuals and perennials. They bear pinnatifid or pinnatisect, mid green leaves and disc-shaped flowers.

Stacked. Odd symmetry.

Grand Canyon National Park, located in northwestern Arizona, is the 15th site in the United States to have been named as a national park. The park's central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Wonders of the World. The park, which covers 1,217,262 acres (1,901.972 sq mi; 4,926.08 km2) of unincorporated area in Coconino and Mohave counties, received more than six million recreational visitors in 2017, which is the second highest count of all American national parks after Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Grand Canyon was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. The park celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 26, 2019.

It appears that something has survived the winter in my garden!

All that's left is stubble where two days ago stood the heavy headed wheat.

Orange earth tongue (Microglossum rufum) has an orange tongue shape that is extremely visually appealing. Despite its stunning appearance, the orange earth tongue is not recommended for eating. It is a member of the Microglossum genus, which means "small tongue" in Latin, while the species name, rufum, means red.

▶ "Canna indica —commonly known as Indian shot, African arrowroot, edible canna, purple arrowroot, and canna lily (although not a true lily)— is a plant species in the family Cannaceae. It is native to much of South and Central America, and is naturalized in the southeastern United States. The plant is a perennial growing to between 1.5 and 8 feet tall (0.5 - 2.5 meters), depending on the variety. The flowers are red or yellow-orange (different colors for cultivars), 1⁄8–3⁄8 inches long (0.2–1 cm). Canna indica (achira in Hispanic America, cana-da-índia in Brazil) has been a minor food crop cultivated by indigenous peoples of the Americas for thousands of years."

West Coast National Park

Picture 200 of my Project 365 ended up being another early morning cell phone shot of San Francisco. It was a beautiful morning, that the grainy picture doesn't do justice.

The green space in front is known as Crissy Field, a decommissioned military airfield, part of the Presidio.

Today is day 200 of Project 365 (Sunday).

Had the chance to finally get to visit the well known Ice caves in south Iceland.

I was expecting waterfalls, giant caves but it's just the beginning of the season for ice caving and right now the big caves are not really secure places to go...

Then, we still had the luck, in the middle of a giant storm, to visit the small but beautiful northern lights ice cave...

such lights, reflections, colours, harmony in this space!

If you visit Iceland in winter, I warmly recommend you to visit these caves in south iceland area close to the famous glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón, and don't hesitate to take the photographer's tour, longer and made for taking pictures!

The whole set of photographs is there on my Behance Portfolio: Northern lights ice cave

free to use, credit and link to your work would be just wonderful if you want to share:-)) I am not demanding, really, just want to admire your work:-)

Desperately wishing I had cold feet right now, or even to get a cold shoulder would be nice. It's been over a week since my escape to the cold, and it's been too long.
