Year Six Of My 365 Project
This happy family was relaxing and sharing an affectionate moment with each other on a Thursday afternoon. I was struck by the fact that both of the youthful parents were smiling... New Yorkers often are glum--or at least appear to be. I was thrilled to see such happiness. May they always be as happy as they are today, if not more so!
The little boy may not be smiling, but his hand is placed lovingly on the stroller of his younger sibling. (I took this through a car window and didn't see whether the baby was a girl or a boy.)
While the boy and his father are both wearing yamulkes, the little guy is wearing a bright, tie-dyed shirt--so appropriate for the joyous and relaxed pre-Shabbos (Sabbath) mood! The mother is dressed in what I'm calling frum chic, ('frum' meaning observant). I don't know if we could call it a ''movement," but it's definitely a tendency that is quietly and respectfully causing a mini-revolution in Jewish Orthodox women's apparel.
