Thriving Minds summer campers at The Bath House held an extra-special culminating event for parents, pals and the Friends of the Bath House in July. They showed off all the skills they'd learned throughout the camp, including theater, mime, puppetry, visual art and community service - they auctioned off the art they'd created and raised over $800 for cleanup efforts at White Rock Lake!
To unleash child's creative potential during this pandemic, teachers and parents will have to play a huge role. As guardians, they should finally realize how these online classes and home quarantines are a blessing to them and
their families.
On the first day of the Bloomberg Arts Internship in Baltimore, interns were welcomed to a brand new classroom where they'll spend two days a week all summer learning skills to prepare them for college and careers.
They opened blank pizza boxes full of all the things they'll need throughout the program, then began customizing their boxes to make them uniquely theirs.
The interns spent the day learning about and practicing mindfulness, shared commonalities and uniqueness with College Mentors and Writing Coaches, and created collaborative art.
In the afternoon, the interns considered what active + equitable listening means. They interviewed each other to practice those skills, created mandalas to reflect what they learned about each other, then presented the mandalas to their listening partners.
