These Scout Books are inspired by the fantasy world created by HP Lovecraft. Featuring seals for Misatonic University expeditions, they are the brainchild of both Lovecraft AND Propnomicon.

We recently conducted an interview with the fabulous 16 Sparrows. Read the interview and peep more photos here!

Jesse Hora is an art director, an illustrator and an Michigan native. He filled these Scout Books with fun, funky sketches and smart illustrations. A super sweet ongoing illustration project of his is Athlete Objects, in which he creates his interpretations of 1980s and 1990s athletes based off of their names, his childhood memories, and their Wikipedia entries. Pretty fresh!

Will Bryant is a graphic designer and illustrator extraordinaire! Based in Austin, Texas, Will makes things because he gets sad if he doesn't. His work is playful, fun, and always bright. He filled up a DIY Scout Book (Cover included!) in ONE DAY. Seriously. One day. A study in patterns. Sweet!

Jess Smart Smiley is an artist and illustrator based in the hills of Utah. He just self-published a comic book called A Map In The Dirt, and made these Scout Books to coincide with the release of his publication. The books are graced with a noble fox and a smattering of plant and animal materials, rendered in Smiley’s delicate line work.

Josh Shalek is a comic-strip-writing, Oregonian transplant from the Southwest who uses his background as inspiration for the set his comic book “Welcome to Falling Rock National Park”. Personally, I love anything that personifies animals: giant lizards wearing clothes, squirrels with glasses, talking cats, owls with mustaches… and this comic book has them all!

Corey Thompson fills Scout Books with a regularity that puts me to shame. Sure, I go through a few a month, but my to-do lists and notes are hardly as inspiring as his sweet, sweet sketches. Corey posts filled-up Scout Books to his site regularly, so check there often for pocket-sized creativity.

PDX POP NOW! is a music festival that takes place in Portland each summer. We're proud to donate Scout Books to this homegrown festival each year. This year's design features a photograph by Melani Brown.

Lovely Sweet William is the product of two sisters, one from New Zealand and one from Australia, who, despite the distance, still make the effort to bring their love of all things handmade together. Being 100% recycled, Scout Books fit in perfectly with their credo. They also have some really beautiful art prints and the most adorable mini dolls that live in matchbox houses! So cute.
