Cap height, ascender, bowl, serif, baseline: there are a lot of things to keep track of when designing letterforms! The Type Sketcher trio of pocket notebooks helps you stay on track as you design. This set features one book for uppercase, one book for lowercase, and one book for numerals, punctuation and symbols. Each book comes with a brief but informative guide to the basics of type design that serve as gentle guides for beginners and helpful reminders for seasoned type designers.

This trio of pocket tools was developed in partnership with Ian Lynam, in hopes that type designers everywhere keep sketching!

Eden Papineau is a graphic and web designer from Virginia Beach, VA. We had the pleasure of helping to create these distinctive Scout Books complete with Eden's personal identity. They turned out great as you can see.

Hooray Eden! Hooray Scout Books, you've done it again!

The University of Houston's University Centers created this Scout Book to use as a giveaway and promotional item for their students. On the back is a schedule of programs, resources and services offered by the University Centers for the 2010-11 year and inside are 32 lined pages ready and waiting to be filled by some lucky recipient.

Scout Books are a great tool for universities. Everyone needs to carry around a notebook for jotting things down, why not carry one with a little school spirit?

Will Bryant is a graphic designer and illustrator extraordinaire! Based in Austin, Texas, Will makes things because he gets sad if he doesn't. His work is playful, fun, and always bright. He filled up a DIY Scout Book (Cover included!) in ONE DAY. Seriously. One day. A study in patterns. Sweet!

Vance Reeser makes animated films, creates images, crafts websites, and writes a blog. He so expertly filled up this Scout Book with some amazing character sketches–and a collage treat at the end. Not to mention the first time we've ever seen the Scout Book used as a mask! Bravo, bravo Vance! Great innovation. Great sketches.

Find Vance's work here, on his website. One project we're particularly intrigued by is a short animated film Vance is creating called the Beast of Black Lake. He used Kickstarter to fund the project but is still accepting backers to help propel the project towards completion.

We're pretty sure we'll be seeing loads of great stuff from Vance in the near future.

These Portland Bingo Cards come to us from the super-talented Bishop Lennon and Amy Ruppel. Every city should have Bingo cards; however, I think most Portlanders would agree that none would be as awesome as these. I can just imagine loading up a car full of people to go driving around, shouting out all the Portland-y things you find while everyone hangs their flailing limbs out of the rolled-down windows. Thanks to Amy Ruppel for providing the great photos you see here. The cards turned out fantastic!

These pocket notebooks were created by Pilot to be used as giveaways and note taking tools for a workshop they held with a client. Pilot's plan is to create a series of Scout Books – one for each workshop as they continue to hold them. The bold illustration style used on this Scout Book translates really well on the chipboard.

Corey Thompson makes art, does graphic design, and writes an awesome blog called Super Duper.

He fills Scout Books like no one else we know; glimpse his awesome filled pocket notebooks over on his portfolio site.

We printed this great Scout Book a few weeks back for the newly-formed Portland social group Whiskey Friends. This loose group of friends will meet regularly in dark basements to drink spirits and take notes.

The project comes from Panic's Mike Merrill and other collaborators.

Cheers!

Travel Portland is such a great resource for lots of interesting stuff to do when visiting Portland. Check out their website to find the latest attractions and new, fun events going on around the beautiful Rose City. This book was designed by Amy Ruppel, go figure, it's just so much fun to look at! It's also a great example of using two colors on a Scout Book! So, so great!

Mia Christopher is a whirlwind of bright productivity. As a multi-disciplinary artist residing in San Francisco, Mia is filling the art world with color and whimsy, participating in group and solo shows up and down the West Coast as well as internationally. All this while she's working toward her BFA from the California College of the Arts. We can't wait to see what's next from Mia. Stay tuned for more Scout Books from Mia; she filled up THREE with playful illustrations and material studies.

Wave Church just held a conference in their amazing Wave Convention Center. The conference took place August 4th through the 6th with multiple keynote speakers and activities all located in the resort city of Virginia Beach, VA with sessions for all ages and interests. Scout Books were only too thrilled to join the party as they are a necessity for any convention!

Dave Selden had the idea to make 33 Wines even COOLER by adding a little bit of wine to the ink.

Awesome.

This entry won the Best Design Pro category. The lovely Tania of Crazy Cupcakes made this very clever winning entry topped with a marzipan "painting" of herself multi-tasking in the kitchen! Not only is she a baker, but judging from this cupcake, she's a pretty good artist as well!

These all entries were designed for a online grocery shop CtgGrocer .

Alex Fuller makes beautiful, bright, bold work. In addition to being a partner at The Post Family, Alex is the co-founder of the Illustration Corporation and helped create Ogilvy’s brand design group, 485. Alex, you're a very busy guy!

We very excited that he took the time to fill this Scout Book so expertly with collage work. We even see some letterpress bits and pieces in there!
