Experimenting with the night.

The canal is always full of algae in spring. You have to wait for the May rains to clean the water that is almost stagnant. Right now, the water in the canal is at very low levels, there are hardly any fish. This old tree looks as if crawling into the water was its dying wish.

Thank you very much for your visit and taking the time to comment; much appreciated!

I was mostly away for the weekend so I did not have a chance to do my "just for fun" photo. So, I worked on it today. Hope you like it.

It was fascinating to watch this young crested tern go through its bathing routine. The wing action was a perfect Australian crawl swimming stroke!

Thank you for looking. Isn't God a great artist?

Crawling in the Dark

Song by Hoobastank

I will dedicate and sacrifice my everything

For just a seconds worth of how my story's ending

And I wish I could know if the directions that I take

And all the choices that I make won't end up all for nothing

Show me what it's for, make me understand it

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

Is there something more than what I've been handed?

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

Help me carry on, assure me it's okay to

Use my heart and not my eyes to navigate the darkness

Will the ending be ever coming suddenly?

Will I ever get to see the ending to my story?

Show me what it's for, make me understand it

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

Is there something more than what I've been handed?

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

So when and how will I know?

How much further do I have to go? (have to go)

And how much longer 'til I finally know? (finally know)

'Cause I'm looking and I just can't see what's in front of me

In front of me

Show me what it's for, make me understand it

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

Is there something more than what I've been handed?

I've been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

With the weight on the world on your shoulders

Will you be the one to crawl?

The serpent writhing on the earth

The angel before the fall

Will the whisper of your greatest sins

Send shivers down your neck?

Will the kiss of death bite through your lips?

Will remembrance take your breath?

Do you crave the iron blades of truth

The wisp serenity

Did the sirens tempt your wicked heart

Will your penance be the fee?

With the weight of the world on your shoulders?

Your knees dragging the earth

Can you find yourself sinking in

When you're choking on your worth

With the Metra parking lot empty in the background and a light snowfall in the air, WSOR T001 heads west through town a little before midnight ahead of the second to last outbound Metra train from Chicago. This is the end of the line these days for commuter service on the former Milwaukee Road "J Line" from Rondout to Janesville.

The red signal above the second car in the train marks the new end of signaled territory. CTC and a new siding at Libertyville are part of the upgrades completed so far on the 17 miles Metra operates west of Rondout.

In the icy waters of the Arctic, a polar bear decided to embark on an unexpected career: Olympic freestyle swimming.

After months of intense training and a diet rich in protein-filled fish, he was ready to face off against the world’s best swimmers.

His technique is unique: he uses his paws like flippers and his massive body to generate incredible force in the water.

As judges are perplexed by this new form of freestyle, the polar bear exclaims with a mischievous grin: “Who needs a swimsuit when you have white fur?”

And with that, he dives into the water to win not just any medal—but an ice medal !

With the train crawling to exit a PSO of 10 mph at MP 36.5 for trains running over 7000 tonnes, A46921-08 reaches the end of the 1.9% uphill grade that started at MP 36 and is just about to enter the 3 miles long 1.9%-2.0% downhill descent between MP 35 and 32.5 on CN's infamous Lac St-Jean subdivision. The stretch between Hervey-Jct and Rivière-à-Pierre is notoriously known for ripping trains apart. Today's 469 is running with engines CN 3233 and 3005 and has a respectable 12 049tons and 7695ft on the headpin, helped by remotes CN 3911 and 3411 placed at mid-train.
