My first Canadian Photograph sees a trio of CP Rail SD40-2s with 'multimark' 5981 leading the twice weekly Golden-Cranbook local #566 south near Castledale, BC along the highly scenic but flat Windermere Sub - 02/09/2009
I was at Cranbook Gardens in Bloomfield Hills today. Only 15 minutes from my house and absolutely beautiful. This is the first time I saw tree peonies. So beautiful!
Caught this perky little sparrow on a fence wire at my friend's property near Cranbook, BC. I think it may be a marsh sparrow, but I stand to be corrected.
This nice looking 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere took part in the 2015 Sprint Car Show held in Overland Park Kansas at the Sprint Campus Center.
Introduced on March 31, the 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere is a two-door pillarless hardtop. It was Plymouth's first such body design and was introduced in response to the 1950 Chevrolet Bel Air, and the Ford Victoria, the first two-door hardtop in the low-priced American market.
The Cranbook Belvedere was the name for the two-door hardtop version of the Cranbrook and built on the same 118.5 in (3,010 mm) wheelbase. Powering the Belvedere is the Chrysler flathead 217.8 cu in (3.6 L) straight-6 engine with a 7.00:1 compression ratio producing 97 hp (72 kW; 98 PS) (SAE gross).
For 1952, Plymouth kept the Cranbrook Belvedere largely unchanged. The biggest alteration was to the color scheme; to further distinguish the top-level Belvedere from other Plymouths, the two toning now flowed from the roof over the beltline onto the trunk, which has been referred to as the "saddleback" treatment. Two-tone color schemes were "sable bronze" over suede, black over "mint green", and gray over blue. Overdrive was made available as optional equipment in the 1952 Plymouth. In overdrive, the engine made three revolutions for each rear wheel revolution against four without overdrive. The engine was a complete carry over from 1951. Production for 1951 and 1952 totalled 51,266 units.
The Belvedere remained a part of the Cranbrook series through the 1953 model year, which saw all Plymouth models completely restyled. Major style changes include a shorter 114 in (2,900 mm) wheelbase, a one-piece windshield, flush rear fenders, and a lower hood line. In April 1953, Plymouths received the Hy-Drive semi-automatic transmission. The engine was carried over from 1952 with the only enhancement being a slight increase in the compression ratio to 7.10:1, which yielded a rating of 100 hp (75 kW).
This stretch of Cranbook Avenue probably is the main street off Anlaby Road for student accommodation - practically every house down here has the symbolic green door of University of Hull student accomodation. It is also the closest a Stagecoach route can get to the main entrance of the university, meaning that unless they really cannot be bothered with walking a short distance in a morning, students can catch a number five bus into city centre every few minutes. To do what exactly? Buy bath bombs from Lush? Or whatever students do these days? I'll learn soon enough when I make my way there...
Stagecoach in Hull's 10745, a 2016 ADL Enviro 400MMC instantly recognisable by its now-outdated orange blinds and the Simplibus advertising on the rear, is seen here heading up Cranbrook Avenue, soon to make a turn left onto Anlaby Road bound for Hull Interchange on route 5.
And there it is. The definitive bus of my childhood. And a type of bus that I will always regret that I never photographed. My last memory of one of these that has forever stayed with me is watching one come up Cranbook Avenue with a faulty headlight. Never did I consider, in the autumn of 2016, that the new buses coming that year were going to replace this. And upon realisation of that early in 2017? I was beyond gutted.
It's cold comfort, therefore, to finally be able to post this. I suppose it fills a small hole somewhere? I remember riding one of these home back then, and in one of my oldest photos of a bus taken on my phone, one of these is visible in the background... only identifiable by its bonded windows. Times like these... it just makes me wish I was able to get into bus spotting earlier than I did. Well, I suppose that can't be helped.
Once part of the first fleet of low-floor ALX400s, and therefore Stagecoach double-deckers to enter service in Hull, Stagecoach in Hull's 17035, a 1999 Dennis Trident Alexander ALX400 new to Stagecoach East London as their TA35, is seen turning through Hull bus station at the end of a working on the 13.

And for the most recent photo of a Stagecoach in Hull E400 I have, here is one that I swear is following me around everywhere I go bus spotting. I don't think I have many photos of these E400s, though I believe this to be one of my most photographed, if not the most photographed. Delivered new with just the name 'Amy Johnson' like the rest of the 2011 E400s, in 2016, the branding of this bus was 'upgraded' to feature an all-around tribute to local hero Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia, 75 years after her untimely death after bailing out of her plane and drowning in the Thames Estuary in 1941 while involved in WW2. The bus is looking a little tired now, but it is a fitting tribute to a local hero that even managed to earn a blue plaque at her former Vernon Court residence in the London borough of Barnet.
Seen here on Cranbook Avenue serving the 5 to Hull Interchange is Stagecoach in Hull's 19687, also known as 'Amy Johnson', a 2011 ADL Enviro 400 that wears a special 'upgraded' livery in tribute to local aviator Amy Johnson, applied 75 years after her untimely death. This bus is noted as being due to be transferred to Long Sutton in exchange for 19684 coming back off loan from there.

The rivers and streams we passed were just a series of puddles, some large, other small, shallow and muddy. It shows how desperate we are for rain. Shire of Cranbrook, Western Australia.
There were two 22 or 23 storey tower blocks in the Barnwood Court Estate on the North Woolwich Road in Silvertown, built in 1967 and which won a Civic Trust Design Award in 1968, Cranbook Point and Dunlop Point, each with 132 flats.
Newham Council let these blocks deteriorate and in 1994 tenants were balloted and voted for their demolition which took place soon after.
This area of West Silvertown is now Britannia Village, and where these tower blocks stood is now Britannia Village Green. This was a scheme to create an 'urban village' and was backed by Prince Charles, and included some social housing as well as the largest housing development by a single private developer anywhere in Docklands, with Wimpey building 777 private homes, six shops and a village hall. The West Silvertown Village Community Foundation was formed in 1995 and the first residents moved here in 1996.
A tree in front of either Cranbook Point or Dunlop Point. The estate had quite large areas of open space around the blocks. The area where they were demolished is now the 'village green'.

”God on the rainbow” is an approximately 23 meter high sculpture of Carl Milles at the entrance to the marina in Nacka Strand.
Carl Milles (1875-1955) made this sculpture back in 1946 as a peace monument and a remark of the creation of the United Nations.
The sculpture is now in full scale as Carl once wanted it to be. It was made by Marshall M. Fredericks (1908-1998) who for many years was an assistant to Milles at the Cranbook Academy of Art.
The sculpture shows God standing on top of an 18 meters high bow in stainless steel.
The bow represents the sky and at the ground an angel is placed stretching stars to God who in turn place them in the sky.
The sculpture was put in place by Nacka Strand Förvaltning AB and was inaugurated on September 8, 1995 by His Royal Highness Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

It was so sad to see this part of the Gordon River lined with dead trees. I'm presuming it is a salt problem too. Shire of Cranbrook, Western Australia. The river is very low, being just a series of lakes and muddy puddles. Rain is needed desperately.

The cap of the mill, constantly turns into the wind, this is achieved through a clever set up of cogs. The faintail will only turn when the sails are not facing into the wind and has to turn the entire cap, complete with sweeps, which weighs over 7 tons.
Called the Union mill, because after the original owner and builder went bankrupt, a group of businessmen from the town bought the mill. The mill is built on a very high brick plinth to raise it above the surrounding buildings, this makes it the highest smock mill in the UK.
