Now it's time to put it into your nylon stocking. You might have a friend help you with this one cause you really don't want to move the wool around very much, it's not felted AT ALL, so it will slip & slide.
These are the supplies you need to do this! Just a nylon stocking (sorry the only large stocking I had was a red & black striped one), your felting shape, some wool, and a spray bottle full of hot water & a little soap.

Now I have a fun tube shaped vessel. I could have made this into an awesome vase by felting one end closed. Just lay out the wool in the beginning with only one side open so that you have a bottom. Should work the same way!!!

Time to pull out 1/2 felted egg. Be careful, the wool on the outside will attach your egg to the panty hose. Just pull & it will come out.
This is what you need to prepare you egg for wet-felting. Wool roving, your plastic Easter egg, a tied off piece of panty hose, & a twist tie.

Next week's tutorial is the remake of an old one... from 6 years ago! It has better pictures, gives more detailed instructions and features one of my favorite upcycled materials: cereal boxes! Stay tuned!

Il tutorial per la prossima settimana è il remake di uno vecchio... di 6 anni fa! Ha le foto migliori, dà le istruzioni più dettagliate e usa uno dei materiali che preferisco in assoluto: le scatole dei cereali recuperate! A breve!
I started to lay out the first layer of wool ontop of the shape. I had all the fibers kinda run in one direction, long ways, and the sprayed it down with the water.

Since the outside is felted pretty well, you want to make sure you get the inside nice and felted. I scrubbed & rubbed the inside with some soap & my hands.

If you pat the wet wool down (instead of trying to start to rub it) it will be a little easier. Pat down to soak all the fibers with soapy water.

I have added a sewing tutorial for these super quick and really lovely upcycling of your favourite childhood hankie. It would also work well for Christmas ornaments or mini gift bags.: sharlzndollz.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/craft-tutorial-hanki...
I started by making my own shape to felt over using newspaper & covering it with clear packing tape. You can also use a found object shape, or even a balloon.
Spray & Pat down...
I laid down 3 layers of core wool. I wanted my vessel to be pretty think & strong, so I started with the core wool to add some bulk.
