Tanenhaus and execs Denise Warren and Alexis Buryk. Notable attendees

News coverage of Afghanistan has focused almost entirely on the war, leaving much of the country’s population – particularly women and girls – out of the headlines. The news isn’t good: Afghanistan has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world; girls on their way to school risk being assaulted; and youth face persistent low-level violence in cities and the countryside. Bringing together experts from a diversity of disciplines and policy areas, this half-day conference examined how women and youth have fared during a decade of conflict, and the challenges and opportunities that they face in Afghanistan’s uncertain future.

Virginia High School Football - Ocean Lakes trounces Green Run
(September 25, 2015: Virginia Beach, VA 23453) In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Ocean Lakes Dolphins football squad scored a big 61-6 victory over the Green Run Stallions.
Coming up next, the Dolphins face the Kempsville Chiefs (Virginia Beach, VA) in a non-league battle, on Friday, October 2. Ocean Lakes will attempt to advance on its 4-0 season record. The Chiefs enter the battle with a 0-5 record after their 14-12 non-league loss to Princess Anne (Virginia Beach, VA).

Gladys Ngwepekeum Nkeh is a UN Police officer from Cameroon.
She has deployed in MINUSCA 8 month ago as a gender officer.
On a daily basis, Gladys works in collocation with National police at the police station of Bangui 1st district.
After monitoring their work, ensuring that basic human rights are provided to arrested persons and that they respect international professional standard, she patrols with them.
But Gladys is also gathering information about the situation within the communities of central Bangui, talking to local leaders, traditional chiefs, etc, constantly promoting gender rights.
This is when she learnt about the situation of Ashley Bongo Passi. A 13 year old girl who became pregnant after having been raped.
Gladys took care of her and is now providing sensitization classes on sexual education to prevent gender based violence at Ashley's school, Ecole des 136 villas.
Ashley is now saved and ready to resume school - her baby was named Gladys, a tribute to the UN police officer who supported her.
