"For me, it's not necessarily interesting to play a strong, fearless woman. It's interesting to play a woman who is terrified and then overcomes that fear. It's about the journey. Courage is not the absence of fear, it's overcoming it." -Natalie Dormer
There is a lot I wanted to portray with this image. Being trapped or bound by fear and not only overcoming it but demolishing it.
As far as the making of this, pain would very accurately describe it haha! I used mascara to create the tear effect. To get the water to make the effect I wanted with the mascara, I had to spray water in my face/eye area. Never again do want to get that much mascara in my eyes haha! I'm sure there had to be an easier way but make up isn't my strong suit. If there is one muscle I would say that most photographers develop the most it would be thighs of steel! Between kneeling in my spot to take the photo and running around to kneel back down to look at the back of my camera, I have some sore thighs! Just walking takes some effort!

Taunton turned out in force this morning (Sunday, November 12) to pay respect to our glorious war dead.
A procession from Taunton Minster through the town centre saw dignitaries take the salute on the steps of the Old Municipal Building in Corporation Street. The action then moved to Vivary Park, where the Rev Tobie Osmond led the Remembrance Sunday service around the war memorial.
Norton Manor Camp is based near Taunton in Somerset and has been the home of 40 Commando Royal Marines since 1983.
The secret of Happiness is Freedom, and the secret of Freedom, Courage.
~Thucydides
On this Memorial day let us remember and honor those who fought for our freedom.
Yesterday, I visited the Veterans Cemetery near our community. Today, I read an editorial of how so many think of Memorial Day as a day of celebration, outdoor cooking and involvement in fun activities. In truth, it is a somber day; one deserving of reflection and thanksgiving for the many whose lives were given in order for us to "celebrate" and have "fun". Let us remember those fallen heroes and the families of those who lost loved ones in defense of our country and our freedom. Also, pray for protection for our military around the world as they serve to keep us safe in an ever dangerous world. God bless them all!
Taken literally 5 minutes after waking up in our camper van, glancing out the window to see the sun rising, snatching my camera, falling out the vehicle door into icy hurricane force winds and sprinting down the black sand beach while realizing how out of shape I am before throwing off my boots and dancing in front of the mountains... Just the usual creative process. :)
VERO MODERO has created this dress, with the beautiful name Courage, for Fashion For Life.
It reminded me of the courage I saw when I had the privilege to host a wish-day for the Make a Wish Foundation. This foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

"When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn."
-Harriet Beecher Stowe
This was taken near Sandbridge Beach, Va in the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. This bird was inching itself across the bay, hoping to make it across the water without being seen...very regal I think.
"It was the question ringing over and over in my head of, "Why not just put as much time into Ellie Chavez Photography and watch it flourish even more?"
The answer was simply was that I would not flourish. Me, as an artist, would slowly be thrown to the wayside and left there to crumble into a memory. But what if that's for the best? What if the fear nagging in my head is right, and it's best to go with what's worked before? I knew somewhere deep down that it wasn't worth trying to find out."

The Victoria Memorial is a sculpture dedicated to Queen Victoria, sculpted by Aston Webb and Thomas Brock in London, placed at the centre of Queen's Gardens in front of Buckingham Palace.
A top the pediment is a winged Victory with figures of Courage and Constancy crouched at her feet, all gilt. Victory balances on an orb, one hand raised and beckoning, the other holding a long palm frond. Courage wears a helmet and bears a club, while Constancy holds a ship’s compass, and both have cloaks swirling out in the breeze. To front and rear we may note stone eagles with outspread wings, symbols of Dominion, or empire.
People are always asking me how is it that firefighters run into a burning building when everyone else is running out. Courage is the answer. --- Chief Kennedy

A great zeal and the want to edit has been pushed back further & further...
The torment of sitting today for a few hours was so painful, I have to stretch my legs often so that the pain eases up. I have to try even with the utmost difficulty, being sick is not fun at all.
Dont know when I will feel better but all I know is I have to surround myself with dreamers & the doers around here, especially my photographer friends, to surround myself with the believers and the thinkers, but most of all to surround myself with friends who see the greatness in within me, even if I do not see it myself.
That is not to be afraid but to focus on where I want to go and not on where I am currently are, it's not easy not to be able to walk but the battle has begun, I have to stand strong, to trust in myself to be able to chase my dreams...
Whenever I find myself doubting on how far I can go, I have to remember how far I have come. To remember everything I have faced, all the battles I have won, and all the fears I have overcome.
I am writing this hoping I can inspire those who are suffering in pain like me. Not to tell you the magnitude of pain I have but to remind you how great God's blessings are.
When people put you down and treat you poorly, keep being you.
Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth.
We are all beautiful and unique, to be beautiful means to be yourself, don't let how you feel make you forget what you deserve.
Dont wait for everything to be perfect before you decide to enjoy your life.

Happy New Year everyone!
I saw the New Year in by painting my Inner Artist Guardian as the family had gone to bed! It was my best New Year's yet! :)
"Courage is knowing what not to fear". Plato
What an incredible cloud formation appeared tonight as the sun was sinking. It was a giant storm cloud that rose in a tall column, then began to spread at its upper tip. The setting sun gave it a backlit aura which added to the drama. As I shot a few pictures of this phenomenon, a laughing gull flew into the frame and appeared to be heading fearlessly straight for this wall of deep blue. In actuality, the bird was much closer to me than to the storm cloud.
