Helgoland series: Couple goals
Last April I visited the Northern Gannets (Morus bassanus) on Helgoland. I spent almost a week watching their mating and bonding rituals and the tenderness between the breeding partners. It was so much fun - just sitting there and watching them ... there are still many pictures on my hard drive, but I can't bring myself to process them. Knowing that many of the beautiful birds I photographed in April died in the following months breaks my heart. This colony (as so many others) was severely hit by an outbreak of the Avian Flu in 2022.
Im letzten April habe ich die Basstölpel auf Helgoland besucht. Fast eine Woche lang habe ich die Seevögel und ihr Verhalten beobachtet. Besonders rührend war es zu sehen, wie zärtlich die Brutpartner miteinander umgingen. Ich habe noch so viele Fotos auf der Festplatte, aber ich kann mich im Moment nicht überwinden, sie zu bearbeiten. Viele der wunderschönen Vögel, die ich fotografiert habe, starben in den folgenden Monaten an der Vogelgrippe, nur wenige Küken überlebten. 2022 war kein gutes Jahr für diese Kolonie - hoffen wir, dass 2023 ein besseres wird!
Due to a couple of reason I don't get out much with my camera these days.
But, I still love photography.
I go on a walk in a nearby park almost every day. Consequently, most of my recent images are from there.
I'm beginning to feel like the "leaf guy".

I'm sure MILW 159 had locked couplers with a lot of Alco trucked GP30's in its career but that probably stopped around the time MILW abandoned the PCE and with the subsequent retirement of the MILW GP30 fleet. Funny that 5 years later 159 is m/u'ed with another Alco trucked GP30. The lighting on this one just bugged the hell out of me but it is 30 Thursday and here's todays offering. SOO 703 and MILW 159 move 909 west at Gilchrist on May 2, 1985.
A young couple, both in white sleeveless shirts and black shorts, spend the early morning hour shopping side by side at an "Ukay-ukay" store, which sells mostly secondhand clothes, shoes, bags and other personal accessories at lower prices.

Dakota wears one of my new dresses from Yoko! So Pretty & suits her coloring very well!
Note to Tracy : I Love her!!! I gave her a few wispy bangs, and plan on doing some work on her eye shadow & lips. I put her on a model muse body also.
