The food wasn't as good for dinner. Perhaps the heat might have something to do with it.

Reliving my to trip to Europe Sept - Nov 2012.
London Oct 22, 2012 England. Day two of our stay in London.. it had started to rain at times and we were walking from Tower of London to St Pauls.
The Lord Raglan was named to commemorate Fitzroy Sommerset, the Lord Raglan. Field Marshal FitzRoy James Henry Somerset was the First Baron Raglan from 1788 to 1855, known before 1852 as Lord FitzRoy Somerset. He Served in the Peninsula War and was military secretary to the Duke of Wellington. In 1854, he was commander in chief of the British troops in the Crimen. Despite his many accolades, Lord Raglan was often regarded as ineffective in that role. In the battle of Waterloo, Lord Raglan lost his right arm, thus coining the term Raglan sleeve.
The Lord Raglan pub is one of the oldest sites in the city. It was originally known as ‘the Bush’ but then changed to Lord Raglan. This magnificent pub still retains much of its original features, including the remained of an old Roman Wall in the cellar.

It was so many years ago, it feels like a different lifetime. My buddy Þorsteinn told me I needed to go straight to the highest levels with my proposal, so...after bluffing my way up 4 floors and past 3 receptionists, I found myself face to face with Mr. Sigurður Helgason. Even with no appointment, he was nice enough to take the time to listen to me. I spent about 20 minutes telling him basically, his airplanes all looked like shit, his company image was weak, and that only I had the solution they needed. It's remarkable that he didn't ask me to leave immediately. After graciously letting me finish, he countered with an explanation of the company's branding and marketing objectives. Also, I was informed of the tremendous costs and questionable benefits regarding my suggestions. I left disappointed, but with great respect and admiration for this man. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?......... Three months later it was announced Icelandair was repainting their entire fleet and rebranding themselves. So was I the turning point in all of this? It's doubtful, but I still like to imagine that I was. Anyway...here is the old Icelandair livery. I shot the 757 and glacier scenes a few months apart, in '97 and '98. They were taken with my Minolta 7xi on what I'm guessing is regular old Kodak Gold 200 ( I scanned the prints not the negatives). Marcie was photographed a couple years ago with my Kodak Z981. I think this would have made a nice looking luggage tag at the very least. I hate to admit this, but, I now prefer the OLD paint scheme. WTF?!?
The pharmacy counter at Kroger Goodman/Getwell has been replaced. If anyone knows if these new counters go with a specific decor package, let me know and that should tell us what decor package this Kroger will be getting with the remodel
We arrived early enough to avoid the lunchtime crowd at HRD Coffee Shop along 3rd St., San Francisco, CA. Try their spicy pork and kimchee breakfast burrito and Korean Loco Moco.

The 7' long island slab with sink hole still in the mold. This slab is in the process of being worked with the trowel as the concrete hardens.
We still need to remove the mirror tiles (you can see we've begun this process). Once cleaned up, we'll paint the wall and put up some kind of backsplash. The old countertops were plywood with tiles stuck on. We had removed the tile in an attempt to use the plywood as a base for new countertops but it seemed like more work than it was worth. We started covering those counters with a succession of vinyl tablecloths from the dollar store. I don't like using the term 'ghetto' but I gotta admit, that was pretty ghetto. But for a few bucks you can buy these Ikea countertops, so we just picked up 3. They don't fit exactly but our standards are obviously pretty low.
