The cough mother chapel in Postmünster an der Rott, it was built in 1748. People with sore throats and coughs used to make pilgrimages to the chapel and hoped for recovery. That's where the name comes from.
Wheatear bringing up a pellet 🤔 Never seen this before and happy to be corrected. Only noticed it going through shots once home. Sadly i missed the head shake and dispersal.
Looking out from Old Parliament House into the smoke haze from bush fires. Canberra. On a clear day you can easily see across the lake, past the Australian War Memorial building and the hills beyond.
What a treat to be able to combine wildlife and landscape photography! Alpine coughs are part of the crow family. They pair for life, may nest at higher altitudes than any other bird and they quite like my cereal bars!
Today’s theme for the Macro Monday’s group is MEDICAL. This is a photo of the top of a small bottle of cough mixture.
Thanks for visiting.
HMM.....
Coldest morning for a while in London. A bit of product placement as well with some Vics Vapour rub in the background. This is so the picture will trigger memories of coughs and cold in the months and years ahead....😁.
Thanks for visiting .
Take care out there...

Macro Mondays: "Heart"
COVID finally caught me last week. I got great care and have gotten past most of the cold/flu symptoms. This simple over-the-counter cough drop was a staple in the first few days of the infection. A little heart shaped bokeh for effect.

Government has declared an end to most of the anti-Covid-19 guidelines during the next couple of weeks. Apparently there's less coughing...
Tussilago down through the millennia has served as an antidote to coughing as indeed its name suggests. But it does apparently wreak havoc on the liver. So it must be used with caution.
I've posted an earlier picture of our Sunny plant from Groningen (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/8650629309/in/photolis...). This one though was taken yesterday in Shaffy's Tuin here in Amsterdam.

Now continuing from my previous photos caption.
"I imagine the rays of lights are the angels of the interwebs coming to collect Flickrs long lost...dead soul. "
The angles of light have also come for my many long lost...long dead followers. Are you still here? Seriously.
"I coughed a lot last night and kept both my mom and me up lots of the night. So I got zoomed off to see Dr. Bahou at 9 a.m. He touched my throat without permission and so I hacked a big cough at him. He said, 'Yes, Bordetella - AKA Kennel Cough'.
Really? I don't go to kennels or even to the dog park because I eat tennis balls. So now I have to take a pill twice a day which is hidden in something yummy. I can easily work it around and spit it out but then it gets put on the back of my tongue and I have to swallow. Ugh!
The worst part is no playing with Gracie for 10 days!! That's right, 10 days! I'm upset and will not look at that camera, just going to sit here with my favorite toy and look unhappy."

At first glance you may think this is a dreamy looking landscape and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Actually this is breath taking thick smoke from a prescribed burn of hundreds of acres of flatwoods. The burn was set the day before this image was taken and we were amazed at how thick the smoke was after an all night smolder and there were still hotspots of fire in some areas. It was near impossible to take a breath without coughing having a window opened so I shot through the windshield.
These controlled burns alter the landscape by removing invasive plants and renewing the land giving native plants a better chance to regrow and reclaim their turf and in turn giving wildlife fresh sources of food and shelter. It doesn’t take long in this climate for the remnants of the fire to disappear with exceptions of scorched tree trunks where flames ran up to grab dead leaves and limbs. It’s a necessary way to preserve the land for long term rather than letting nature take its course with a lightening strike or carelessly left campfire that can burn out of control and devastate the land like the wildfires that are burning in Canada and past fires in California.
My Grandfather had a bad cough, but he smoked cigars. The teacher shakes his head as this was not the answer he was looking for.
It looks like we will have two weeks for some Quaffing.... Ontario is going to be in lockdown.
Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday
Our second day started very early in the morning at Bosque Del Apache Bird Sanctuary. It turned out to be the best decision that we made in our entire trip. We were greeted by a an elderly, retired couple. They take their mobile home and travel throughout the United States and volunteer at various bird sanctuaries. It is their job to welcome guests and inform visitors of the rules and regulations. They gave us tips on bird sightings. This particular day they let us know that quite a few roads were not accessible due to the controlled burn that was taking place. We were disappointed but resigned to make the most of our day - after all, we had come a very long way to explore this place.
We spent the morning exploring the different roads, stopping to get out and watching for any bird activity. We walked along the many culverts and bodies of water. We saw Hawks, ducks, a Heron, and a bonus gorgeous yellow bird! We even had another visit from the Javelinas.
We ended up at a large body of water and watched as the Snow Geese came in. There were thousands of them. What a noise they made! They seemed twitter-pated, unsettled and kept rising in and out of the water and up into the bluest of all skies. Not a cloud! I kept saying to my husband that I could not believe that the park was doing a burn on that day because it was so windy.
As we watched the birds, the air became so acrid from the smoke. I started coughing. It was horrible. I told my husband that I would bet money that the burn was out of control.
Five minutes later, a panicked Wildlife Officer drove up to us and said in no uncertain terms that we had to leave immediately. They promptly led us out of the Sanctuary.
As we bid farewell to another adventure we watched in the rearview mirror the devastating smoke that billowed from Bosque Del Apache Bird Sanctuary. I had to stop the truck. We got out and surveyed the land remembering it was the same landscape that only last night was aglow with the Golden hour but now it was being ravaged by fire.
In disbelief I snapped this parting shot and we drove off wondering how this story would end...
I was watching this female Kingfisher as it sat quite quietly . I decided to put on the 2x converter to see how it stood up quality wise on the 600. Just as I switched the camera back on and refocused on her, she started acting very strange....... well I thought, it is a female lol. Then all of a sudden she regurgitated this huge fish pellet. I knew they did such things, but had never seen it before !!
Who's next on the chopping ... erm coughing block?
For today's Macro Mondays theme "poisonous" I tried to create a tribute to the great books and movies "Game of thrones". Well, it came not out as I wished, but hope you like it nonetheless.
Fun fact: I bought the first pack of cigarettes of my life for this picture and felt like a teen buying its first pack of condoms. :D

HMM everyone!
