Looks similar to the orange Zinnia, but has feathery foliage

Various sources say cosmos means "beauty/beautiful" or "harmony" or "ordered universe" but the Greek dictionary doesn't bear any of these interpretations out.

"Sulphureus" refers to the color "pale yellow" (like sulphur). Which this flower obviously is not! But there are others in this species that are yellow.

কসমস বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম Cosmos bipinnatus, সাধারণত এটিকে কসমস বা মেক্সিকান এষ্টার বলে ডাকা হয়। এটি একটি মাঝারী আকৃতির herbaceous উদ্ভিদ। এটি সাধারণত ২ থেকে ৪ ফুট উচ্চতা বিশিষ্ট হয়। গোলাপী, সাদা, বেগুনী বংএর হয়ে থাকে। পাতার কিনারাগুলি খাজকাটা থাকে।

এটি অংকুরোদগমে ৭ থেকে ১০ দিন সময় লাগে এবং তাপমাত্র ২৪°C এবং এটি ফুল দেওয়া শুরু করে ৬০ থেকে ৯০ দিমের মধ্যে। এর উপযুক্ত মাটির pH ৬.০ থেকে ৮.৫ হলে ভাল হয়। পূর্ণ সূর্যালোকে এবং কিঞ্চিত ছায়াযুক্ত জায়গায়ও জন্মায়। এর সৌন্দর্যে প্রজাপতি ও কীটপতঙ্গকে সহজেই আকৃষ্ট হয়।

আরেকটি প্রজাতি হলো বর্ষাতি কসমস এর বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম Cosmos sulphureus।
