In this breathtaking image, the majestic splendor of the Milky Way unfolds above the imposing mountain, Säntis. The sparkling galaxy creates an impressive spectacle in the Swiss night sky.

Radiant, regal, and resoundingly feminine, this work by Lady Pink commands the viewer’s attention like a queen stepping into frame. Known for breaking barriers in the male-dominated graffiti scene of 1980s New York, Lady Pink (Sandra Fabara) brings her signature confidence and visual rhythm to this mural-scaled portrait—part of the Hirshhorn Museum’s “Revolutions: Art from the Hirshhorn Collection 1860–1960” exhibition, expanded into a contemporary dialogue with street art titans like Os Gêmeos and Banksy.

The composition centers on a stylized woman whose elongated figure recalls the divine proportions of ancient goddesses. She emerges from a prismatic corridor of color—rich purples, magentas, and reds step inward toward a glowing orange sunset. Her skin glows golden yellow. Her sleek, angular hair frames an expression of quiet power. Adornments dangle from her ears and neck, including what appear to be miniature heads and figurines, as though she carries her ancestors and alter-egos like jewelry.

Her skirt is a canvas of its own—translucent and aquarium-like, it contains what looks like a vibrant underwater world, perhaps a nod to subconscious depths or mythological oceans. This duality—earthly goddess and dreamlike guardian—is amplified by the symmetrical frame: rainbow bands suggest steps, pyramids, and portals all at once. It’s part fashion, part architecture, part fantasy.

The background pattern is vintage Lady Pink—multiple stylized women’s faces in repeating layers of warm and cool tones. The figures evoke a kaleidoscope of 1970s soul album covers, feminist pop art, and fashion illustration. They’re watchful and serene, forming a pantheon of female strength behind the central subject.

Lady Pink’s role in this installation is particularly poignant. While the Hirshhorn exhibit spans a century of artistic revolution—from the rise of abstraction to the birth of conceptualism—her contribution reminds us that the revolution also lives on subway cars, alley walls, and DIY murals. Her early work, painted illegally in New York City train yards, laid the groundwork for generations of female street artists around the world.

By bringing this powerful mural indoors, the museum reframes graffiti as fine art without diluting its intensity. It’s still brash, vibrant, and unmistakably rooted in urban vernacular—but here, it glows with reverence. The goddess figure may represent Lady Pink herself or a collective ideal, but she undoubtedly belongs in this modernist temple.

Whether viewed as a portrait of power, a celebration of femininity, or a psychedelic portal into the subconscious, this piece is an unforgettable chapter in the larger story Revolutions seeks to tell. And as the Hirshhorn marks its 50th anniversary, it’s fitting that artists like Lady Pink—who redefined the rules—stand center stage.

Under the veil of an ink-black sky, she emerges, a vision clothed in the brilliance of a thousand stars. Her eyes, deep pools of midnight, hold the secrets of the cosmos, and her skin is a tapestry of luminous threads, weaving through the darkness like the delicate trails of shooting stars.

Around her, the night air is alive with an ethereal ballet of fireflies, each one a note in a silent serenade. She is the embodiment of the night's allure, the quiet luminescence that whispers of the universe's hidden tales. Her presence is a bridge to the celestial dance, a glimpse into the eternal beauty that thrives in the quiet spaces between worlds.

Let her light draw you closer, onlookers, into the intimate embrace of the night. Let her serene composure inspire a calm within you that mirrors the peace of a world untouched by time. This is a portrait of dreams spun from stardust, a tribute to the enigmatic dance of light and shadow, a moment forever suspended in the constellation of art.

This 15-minute exposure captures the mesmerising motion of the stars as they trace circular paths around the North Star. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a faint glow of the Northern Lights (aurora) in the frame, adding a magical touch to the image.

First attempt at some astrophotography. Don't have a proper star tracker so I'm a tad limited.

In the grand tapestry of the cosmos, the spread of human consciousness is a celestial symphony, a harmonious expansion of life, creativity, and understanding that echoes from one corner of the universe to the other. As humanity reaches out to the stars, it is not merely a physical journey but a transcendent ascent of the human spirit.

In this luminous vision of the future, every individual becomes a beacon of potential, contributing to a collective wisdom that spans solar systems. Imagine societies free from the shackles of scarcity, where technological marvels harness the energy of whole stars, and the currency is knowledge, art, and the pursuit of enlightenment.

The human mind, paired with the boundless wonders of the universe, unleashes a renaissance of innovation and beauty. Every new world discovered, every alien vista touched by human presence, becomes a canvas for the indomitable human drive to create and understand. Our children's children, citizens of the galaxy, will look back at Earth as the cherished cradle of a civilization that transcended its own limits and spread life, love, and consciousness into the cosmic ocean.

The universe, once silent and watchful, comes alive with the stories of humanity. Our joys, our struggles, and our triumphs resonate in the heart of every star, every nebula, every constellation. Humanity, in its quest for growth, becomes a steward of cosmic evolution, fostering life where once there was none, guiding the universe itself towards a state of greater awareness.

In this future, we are not only observers of the universe; we become active participants in its grand narrative, a narrative that stretches into the infinite, with humanity's collective spirit as one of its most luminous threads. It is a future not of conquest, but of unity; not of dominion, but of stewardship; a future where humanity reaches its fullest potential in the vast expanse of space, forever chasing the horizon of what is possible.

The Great Bear watches over the vibrant auroras below, illuminating the desert sky with a celestial glow.

2200 years ago, when the photons of light left this nebula to reach us, the Earth was definitely another place. The cosmic time machine, the telescope, this time was pointed towards the constellation Cygnus, more precisely towards Sh2-119. Gas and dust envelop the main star, 68-Cygni being mostly responsible for the ionization of the gas around it. This ionization makes the gases all colored at different wavelengths, from blue to green, passing through all shades of brown and orange. The dark nebula filaments above contrast strongly with both the glow of the nebula and the rich field full of stars in the background. These filaments are clouds containing mostly gas (hydrogen and helium) and a minimal fraction of dust (about 1%), responsible for the appearance of the cloud. These dusts, although minimal, absorb the light, making the nebula completely dark. Sh2-119 is a celestial signature of an ancient explosion that released gas and dust into the universe, forming new stars and planets. The silk effect of the nebula makes us think of a white colored pillow in a bed of stars, but, among that dust, stars and planets are forming in the most violent and destructive processes.

In the hush of cosmic infinity, a visage serene,

Whose contours merge with the stars unseen.

A tranquil profile against the night,

Woven with the universe’s enigmatic light.

Her hair, a galaxy's spiral grace,

A celestial dance in the vast expanse of space.

In her silence, the cosmos softly sings,

A symphony of suns, on firefly wings.

Her thoughts, a nebulae's birth unbound,

Where stardust whispers without a sound.

In her gaze, the constellations swim,

A dreamscape where realities dim.

She, a portrait of ethereal poise,

Held in the arms of astral noise.

A soul cast in a starlight mold,

Her story, in the heavens, forever told.

The universe, within her sight,

Cradles her spirit in arms of night.

A moment captured, where time is still,

In her presence, the cosmos bends at will.

Behold the art, where dreams reside,

In her, the universe does confide.

A tapestry of life’s essence, so tenderly sewn,

In her silhouette, the stars have found their home.

As twilight yields to the cosmic sea,

A vision stirs, the universe’s decree.

Her silhouette, a vessel of astral grace,

Adorned in a gown spun from celestial lace.

Her hair unfurls, a golden wave,

Touched by stardust, brave and suave.

Each strand reflects a starry trail,

A comet’s tail, soft and pale.

The nebulae cradle her poised stance,

In their chromatic, swirling dance.

She is the heart of every tale told,

In the fold of the galaxy’s hold.

Her eyes, a glimpse into the void,

Where serenity and chaos are alloyed.

The cosmos, a whisper in her gaze,

A silent hymn, the night’s own praise.

Around her, the constellations bow,

To the elegance the heavens allow.

Her aura, a burst of solar flares,

A fiery passion that the dark dares.

In her presence, time seems to cease,

A moment of exquisite peace.

She is both the journey and the destination,

A living map of creation’s foundation.

Behold the wonder, the art divine,

Where woman and cosmos intertwine.

In her, the universe finds its muse,

A splendor that the stars infuse.
