I think this could be smooth scouring-rush Equisetum laevigatum, a type of horsetail.
"The name [scouring-rush] refers to the rush-like appearance of the plants, and to the fact that the stems are coated with abrasive silicates, making them useful for scouring (cleaning) metal items such as cooking pots or drinking mugs, particularly those made of tin......
Rough horsetail E. hyemale is still boiled and then dried in Japan, to be used for the final polishing process on woodcraft to produce a smoother finish than any sandpaper." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equisetum

On my way to a predetermined spot for photos, this drive by gem jumped out. After doing a double take and realizing what I had seen, my plans changed. The time of day was just right to catch this tree in the bright light. In an hour or so, it would be in the shade of surrounding trees, so it was now or never. After parking and grabbing the tools of the trade, it was necessary to jump the mote protecting the course as if it were in need of protection, like some castle of old.
After landing in the mote and getting up, I trekked over to where I could get the best shot. Golfers past by in the distance likely wondering what I was up too. But, they were just as quickly gone, and I was alone with my subject. This shot turned out best with the curtain of trees behind further accentuating this lone tree. However, the small opening at the bottom revealed the doppler of the tree itself. After a few foreground curves and undulations, the image was complete. Then off to the mote once again.

As winter in Montreal does not give many occasions for bokeh photography, I was recently playing with possibilities of RaweTherapee, my RAW editor of choice. I made couple of LUT files too mimic a memory of some vintage films my father used in 70-ties.
Here I share some results. Only minimal exposure and LUT profile were applied on those photos.
Thanks so much fellow photographer JT for correctly identifying this sighting, Well done JT !!
Thanks for viewing, faves and comments are always appreciated!

The annual Autumn visit to the beautiful Ballaglass Glen is always a highlight of the year for me. I’ve shot this location hundreds of times but its testament to how photogenic the woodland is that I never fail to walk away with an image. Taken in the lower part of the glen, this photo required wading out into the middle of the river to capture this long exposure shot upstream 🍂
