My mother is celebrating her 90th birthday on Saturday. That's why I'm staying in my hometown Augsburg for a few days.

Schuylkill River Trail - It's even hard to imagine this place without people.
In the hour before sunrise, a full moon hanging over the Alaskan Inner Passage, fishing boats drifting in the current hoping for a bountiful catch. I was up early prowling the decks of our cruise ship looking for that award winning shot. I didn't get any awards, but I did get a few memories--the kind that I can relive through the ages from the photos.
It occurs to me that folks might not have the opportunity to experience moments like this for the foreseeable future as the Coronavirus has disrupted the cruise industry indefinitely. I hope you're all safe and out of harms way. Don't forget to wash those hands.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
Captured in September 2020. Today Glasgow remains in level 3 lockdown restrictions with a high level of the B1.617.2 variant of coronavirus dominant in the area. Although I have had both vaccine doses the advice is to avoid travel to and from Glasgow unless absolutely necessary. It will be a while yet before I consider it safe enough for street photography to resume for me. Stay safe everyone!
Frankfurts riverside this friday evening. Hang around for a couple of hours, you'll probably get high for free. And despite the continued uncertainty, you'd be hard pressed to find some obvious clues the Corona crisis is still going on.

On our dog walks, this is one of my happy places. We managed to get there this morning for our one exercise outing of the day (although this was taken a few weeks ago). I'm so glad I managed to get some eggs in a little shop on the way, first time in two and a half weeks! Being a family of veggies it's been a little worrying not to be able to get certain things. The photography club I am a member of selected "pandemic" as the theme for our next meeting (online only). I always prefer to photograph natural subjects and recalled seeing several Sweetgum trees last fall. Found green Sweetgum balls that are spiked like the coronavirus. The balls turn brown in the fall but only the tips of the spikes had turned brown so far. Removed the stem in post processing and distorted the colour to make it look more frightening. A focus stack of 38 images.

After watching the France-Germany game with some colleagues, I walked back home from Bornheim. Night life is definitely coming back in its usual locations. "He's getting married tomorrow" she said. Congratulations!

Normal. Normality. A day out. Shopping going mad. Toilet paper gone. Pasta gone. Searching for eggs. Can't be true. It is true.
Sunday we walked down to the riverside to see the Sun set. The clouds having lifted in the meanwhile, it turned out to be rather unspectacular, but my wife noted how odd it was to see people's faces for a change. Truth be said, I took that picture because at that particular moment, the frame was rather busy.
