A Coral Rose blooms in December shot in macro. This rosebud was covered in ice last week. I'm surprised it bloomed. #CoralRose #rose #plant #nature #bloom #Blume #fleur #plante #Pflanze #バラ #赤いバラ
A single rosebud covered with dew. I liked the background colors so much I didn't bother cropping it to center. #Rosebud #colors #couleurs #Farben #Tau #dew #バラのつぼみ #植物
I shot this set of flower pictures using a 70-300 telephoto lens as a macro. I needed to be around 4 feet from the subject. This extra space in front of the flower could sometimes be paired with some out of focus foreground flowers or foliage. This lens tends to be soft but I think that is OK for flowers. I used levels adjustments, contrast and selective sharpening to add drama and emphasis.
A few weeks ago, I was walking in our garden and I came across these roses. I have never seen roses grow in such a formation with the center one slightly faded. I immediately thought of my dear friend, Jennifer. She had been battling cancer for five years and just discovered the cancer had spread to the spine. She past away on Tuesday. She leaves behind her husband, four children and countless friends and relatives who will miss her crazy. She was a lady who epitomized the word Gracious. She had a generous heart that touched everyone around her. I am honored and blessed to have had such a friend.
~A Rose That Once Stood Alone~
A solitary rose grew in the darkest corner of the garden
Surrounded by many others
Yet remained alone
Time passed and trials came and went
One dealt a severe blow
And the rose began to wilt and wither
Forgotten...
Then... as if by a miracle...
There came a soft and gentle breeze
Followed by a ray of light
As all the other roses fell into darkness
The solitary rose began to shine
Shining with a special light...
And watered by a gentle cascade...
A cascade of love
A cascade of selfless affection
'I do... not now but forever...'
Said the rose to the sunlight
And there they remain
A rose in full bloom
With her sunshine smiling down on her...
You are my sunshine, my life, my very soul
And I your rose blooming in the light of your love.

Happy Easter to everyone!

Flowers - A single flower can be my garden... a single friend, my world. --
Flowers have a simple architectural beauty that radiate optimistic hue and are associated with the sun, warmth, and feelings of friendship and optimism.
Because of their varied and colorful appearance, flowers have long been a favorite subject of visual artists. Some of the most celebrated paintings from well-known painters are of flowers, such as Van Gogh's sunflowers series or Monet's water lilies.
Flowers can also be dried, freeze dried and pressed to create permanent, three-dimensional pieces of flower art.
I love to photograph, smell, see, and be around beautiful flowers. I hope they make your day too!

This steampunk necklace is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. To create an elegant and bright romance, I have layered enamel flowers and watch gears with miniature playing cards.
The steampunk assemblage is created upon a vintage brass stamping. Enamel flowers in royal blue and crimson red are layered with rhinestones and watch gears. Smaller vintage flowers dance with the deck of cards, accented with whimsical watch gears. The miniature cards are paper miniatures showing queen, king, and ace.
To add to the royal elegance, I have accented the steampunk pendant with black glass beaded chain, Czech glass beads, iridescent chandelier crystals. I added an extender to the chain, so you may change the length of the necklace as needed.

A gold metallic Jack of Clubs miniature playing card accents the upper right side of the pendant. The pendant base is a brass filigree stamping.

This beautiful rose blooms sporadically throughout the winter in my backyard garden and withstands Austin's harsh summers. I love the color.
This sky blue teacup ring is the perfect accessory for a tea party with Alice and the Mad Hatter in Wonderland. The ring band is adjustable, so you may size it to your liking.

I have added an extender so you can change the length to your liking.
This necklace is inspired by the pocket watch that belonged to the White Rabbit. His watch gets "repaired" at the Mad Hatter's tea party, and this is my interpretation of the aftereffects.
