Shaftesbury è una città nel Dorset, in Inghilterra. Shaftesbury ospitava l’abbazia omonima, fondata nel 888, divenuta poi una delle piu’ ricche istituzioni religiose del paese, prima di essere distrutta nel 1539. Adiacente al sito dell’abbazia si trova “Gold Hill”, la ripida strada acciottolata resa famosa nel 1970 dallo spot televisivo per il pane Hovis di Ridley Scott. Gold Hill è famosa per il suo aspetto pittoresco ed è stata descritta come "uno dei più luoghi romantici in InghilterraImmagini di questa strada appaiono sulle copertine di molti libri sul Dorset e sull’Inghilterra rurale, così come su innumerevoli scatole di cioccolatini e calendari.

A causa del suo soggetto insolito e dell'impressionante qualità dell'esecuzione, il dipinto berlinese "Natura morta con libri" è considerato un eccezionale esempio di quello che era allora un genere ancora giovane nella storia dell'arte spagnola. Tre libri di diverse dimensioni rilegati in pergamena, una carta piegata, una clessidra e un calamaio con penna d'oca sono disposti su un panno rosso chiaro davanti a uno sfondo nero. Fino a quel momento, oggetti come questi erano stati considerati degni di essere dipinti solo come attributi di santi o nei ritratti. Sono disposti in modo apparentemente casuale e illuminati da un potente fascio di luce proveniente da sinistra, che proietta ombre dure sul telo. La penna consumata con le alette strappate, gli angoli delle pagine del libro con le orecchie da cane e le copertine sbrindellate suggeriscono che gli oggetti hanno visto un uso frequente. Insieme alla clessidra, che si intravedono nella penombra dietro il libro aperto e che sembra essere stato capovolto solo un attimo fa, testimoniano la presenza di una persona che non si vede nel quadro. Sebbene siano visibili le pagine aperte del libro adagiato sul grande volume in folio, è impossibile decifrare le lettere scritte con inchiostro bruno, e anche il contenuto degli altri libri rimane nascosto allo spettatore. Apparentemente l'intenzione del pittore non era quella di ritrarre opere chiaramente identificabili, ad esempio con contenuto religioso o letterario, ma piuttosto di raffigurare oggetti di uso quotidiano nel modo più realistico possibile. Sebbene le pagine del grande volume in folio siano dipinte con pennellate lunghe e ruvide, si crea l'impressione che ogni pagina possa essere toccata e girata, e anche il peso dei libri e la rigidità delle rilegature sono quasi tangibili. Il fatto che il pittore riesca a ottenere questo effetto con una tavolozza di nient'altro che bianco, nero, marrone e rosso testimonia il suo incredibile talento artistico. Inoltre, si astiene dall'utilizzare il tipo di trucchi illusionistici spesso usati in quadri come questo per far sembrare che alcuni oggetti sporgano dal dipinto. Due to its unusual subject matter and impressive quality of execution, the Berlin painting "Still Life with Books" is considered an outstanding example of what was then a still young genre in the history of Spanish art. Three books of different sizes bound in vellum, a folded paper, an hourglass, and an inkwell with a quill are arranged on a light red cloth in front of a black background. Until then, objects such as these had been considered worthy of painting only as attributes of saints or in portraits. They are arranged in a seemingly random manner and illuminated by a powerful beam of light coming from the left, casting harsh shadows on the cloth. The worn pen with torn flaps, dog-eared book page corners, and tattered covers suggest that the objects have seen frequent use. Along with the hourglass, which can be glimpsed in the half-light behind the open book that appears to have been flipped over only a moment ago, they testify to the presence of a person not seen in the painting. Although the open pages of the book lying on the large folio volume are visible, it is impossible to decipher the letters written in brown ink, and the contents of the other books also remain hidden from the viewer. Apparently the painter's intention was not to portray clearly identifiable works, for example with religious or literary content, but rather to depict everyday objects as realistically as possible. The identity of the painter who was able to render such simple objects so virtuously remains a mystery to this day. Although the painting has been repeatedly attributed to Italian masters, most experts speculate that the work was executed by an artist working in Madrid.

Oltre alla stampante Epson A4 vinta, la fotografia rimane in concorso per altri importanti premi ed in lizza per l'ammissione di tre nuovi autori fotografici, segnalati per merito, alla III Biennale che avrà luogo a Bibbiena nel 2012 presso il Centro italiano della fotografia d'autore. Lo scatto è stato fatto in una piscina privata a Putney ( London Borough of Wandsworth ) dal fotografo Tony May nel 1996. I modelli nudi ritraevano le copertine di sei album dei Pink Floyd dipinti sulle spalle dall'artista Phyllis Cohen.

Abrí una pagina y vi miles de letras que alguien olvidó leer, y pensé en lo efímero de lo que nos rodea.... ¿quien toco esas paginas antes que yo?, no lo se pero si pudiese verlo como transportado en el tiempo lo haría, soy curioso por naturaleza y eso puede ser malo.
Entre en aquella sala por pura curiosidad, y nada mas dar un paso , sentí un extraño escalofrío que me recorrió la espalda a su antojo, aquel viejo sillón colocado bajo la ventana, con aquel libro a medias de leer en el brazo, era como si me esperase; como si quisiese que yo continuase lo que alguien comenzó y no terminó, el titulo del libro no se veía desde mi posición pero tenia curiosidad, de nuevo la dichosa curiosidad.
Con precaución me acerque, y mire las tapas del libro. El polvo las cubría y no facilitaba la visión del titulo, por lo que sople.
Un polvo espeso y oscuro salio de aquellas tapas y tras el se leía: "El ultimo viaje" , me pareció irónico ese titulo para un libro abandonado en una ruinosa vivienda de estación en desuso, pero nuevamente la maldita curiosidad me forzó a sentarme y comenzar a leer aquel condenado libro.
Los médicos le dijeron a mi familia que fue un infarto de miocardio, pero yo siempre diré, por los siglos que me quedan de vagar en esta vía muerta, que fue la curiosidad la que me mato, ya que me llevó hasta este libro maldito.

Ho aperto una pagina e ho visto migliaia di lettere che qualcuno ha dimenticato di leggere, e pensato l'impermanenza di tutto ciò che ci circonda .... Chi mi ha toccato quelle pagine prima di me?, Ma non so se ho potuto vedere come trasportati indietro nel tempo, ne sono curioso per natura e che può essere cattivo. Entrare in quella stanza per curiosità, più niente a che fare un passo, Sentii un brivido strano correva lungo la schiena a volontà, che il vecchio poltrona sotto la finestra, con quel mezzo letto il libro nel braccio, come se mi aspettava, come se lui voleva che continuare ciò che qualcuno ha iniziato e non sopra, il titolo del libro non è visibile dalla mia posizione, ma ero curioso, ancora una volta la curiosità felice. Cautamente mi avvicinai, e vedere le copertine di libri. La polvere li coperto e non ha potuto facilitare la visione del titolo, in modo che soffia.
Una spessa polvere scura uscì di quei berretti e dopo la lettura di "L'ultimo viaggio, è sembrato ironico che il titolo per un libro di sinistra in una casa fatiscente in disuso della stazione, ma ancora una volta la curiosità dannata mi ha costretto a sedersi e iniziare a a leggere quel libro maledetto. I medici detto alla mia famiglia che è stato un attacco di cuore, ma dico sempre, per sempre ho lasciato a vagare in questo vicolo cieco, è stato la curiosità che mi ha ucciso, perché io ha preso in mano questo libro maledetto.

The bad weather inspire me. So early this mornig i woke up with these ideas into my head for a new subject for my mosaics. I love the series with the vanity fair's cover but this morning this is my favorite. Enjoy it on a black background.
Il tempo triste mi ispira. Cosi questa mattina mi sono svegliato molto presto con la testa piena di ideaa per un nuovo soggetto. Ho sempre amato la serie di mosaici con le copertine di vanity ed oggi il mio preferito è questo. Dovete assolutamente guardarlo con uno sfondo scuro.
