There are several distinct sections of Oman. The capital city of Muscat is quite developed. However, it is a subdued and modest modern city. There is the mountainous region filled with rock formations which could keep geologists busy for a life time. Wadis or valleys are part of the landscape too. They are beautiful river beds with cool spring water. These areas are where the locals enjoy relaxing.

Then there is Salalah in the eastern part of the country. This image was taken there. the landscape is more tropical in appearance and feel. Long deserted beaches are plentiful along with ancient ruins. The villages are quite small and there are many wide open spaces. Exploring this country is so relaxing and peaceful that one really does feel quite removed from the rat race of modern living.

Rien de plus français que l'esprit de contradiction... Surtout ces derniers temps, avouons-le !

Some London Underground action for you now. This is the shortest of long exposure shots (is that a contradiction?) set up with a tripod on the platform. This lady walked in to shot and I was going to wait but she actually provided some perfect context.

The train was just about to enter through the tunnel as I hit the trigger so you can see the associated light trails entering the subway station.

Puedo volver , puedo callar, puedo forzar la realidad

A moment ago I looked into your eyes.

I saw you were hemmed in By contradictions.

Your words Confirm this.

You are scared to death,

Like a child who has lost Father and mother.

You are trying to sound

The middle of the ocean With a six-foot pole.

You have got lost, and are trying

To find your way back

To your own true self.

You find nothing

But illegible signposts

Pointing in all directions.

I pity you.

LIU Wei, plastic bags (2017), 120x240 cm

LIU Wei repurposes everyday materials to explore perception, societal contradictions and environmental impact by transforming post-industrial objects – especially plastic bags – into intricate wire mesh artworks. Glossy, vibrant and cheap but, simultaneously, toxic plastic bags embody both convenience and ecological harm. Through months of meticulous labour, LIU reshapes the waste materials into luminous forms, questioning whether discarded remnants of modern life can find redemption through artistic reconfiguration.

His work invites reflection on the long-term consequences of industrialisation, as the PVC in his objects takes a millennium to degrade. While these artworks will ultimately vanish, their message endures, offering a striking meditation on waste, permanence and the role of art in confronting crises.

“In LOVE all the contradictions of existence

merge themselves and are lost.

Only in love are unity and duality not at variance.

Love must be one and two at the same time.

Only love is motion and rest in one."

Sign say no littering, no smoking? Or does it mean you can smoke just put butts in ashtray.....normally red symbol means NO don't do....so weird. Atleast to me.

For example, I said that I was shooting in RAW mainly. True. However, I am just about to reserve one of my cameras for JPEG shots only. This is a JPEG shot done with the old X-Pro1 and a fast Fuji lens. The camera I am preparing for this will be the Fuji X-E2, also an 'old' (second hand) camera, but one with interesting features I am wishing to exploit. In fact, the equally old 16MP sensor is, in my view, one of the best ones Fuji has ever made. We'll see.

“I have had to accept the fact that my life is almost totally paradoxical. I have also had to learn gradually to get along without apologizing for the fact, even to myself...it is in the paradox itself, the paradox which was and still is a source of insecurity, that I have come to find the greatest security. I have become convinced that the very contradictions in my life are in some ways signs of God’s mercy to me: if only because someone so complicated and so prone to confusion and self-defeat could hardly survive for long without special mercy. And since this in no way depends on the approval of others, the awareness of it is a kind of liberation...Paradoxically, I have found peace because I have always been dissatisfied. My moments of depression and despair turn out to be renewals, new beginnings.” - Thomas Merton, A Thomas Merton Reader

Isn't that a contradiction in itself?

Well no , cos that is a contradiction of terms ! Still not a tree I am sure of , so any suggestions on this please , I would appreciate .

Seen in the church car park and it's odd appearance against the roof-line attracted my attention .

The many contradictions have to be accepted. You are trying hard to weld everything into a whole, to simplify things one way or another in your mind because that would simplify your life, but life happens to consist of contradictions and all of these must be accepted as part of life, and one must not stress one at the expense of the other. Just let everything go on spinning along, and it may yet turn into one great whole.

Contemplating, isolating

And it's stressing me out

Different visions, contradictions

Why won't you let me out?

You said in your world, few other hands, so you can stop, you can only go forward

(Catching up on photos from Iceland)

Reykjavik is a remarkably eclectic mix of old and new. Its a city that sees no contradiction in keeping to its unique roots and traditions while boldly reaching out to the worlds artists, of all stripes, to come and experiment.

Frustrated with graffiti 'tagging' of this building, in an industrial space of Reykjavik, the owner approached Guido Van Helten to add his art to the building in the hopes that it would deter the spray can bandits. That was 2013, and it certainly looks to have worked.

Interesting story, as a local paper tells it, he selected the image from a photo of a movie from the 1960s, because he thought it matching his classic style. As he was working on it a woman passing on the street stopped in her tracks and exclaimed 'that's my mother.' Turns out she was the daughter of the actress from the film.

The Australian artist originally came to Iceland for a two-month artist residency program. As a kid, in Melbourne, he was arrested five times for his graffiti tagging. He decided to go to university and focus his talent. Now, the only thing that's arresting is his magnificent work.

If you google his name you'll see many examples of his work. To think that all this cost the owner of the building was materials and a place for the artist to stay for the duration of the project. I hope his remuneration is now commensurate with his talent.

The contradiction of natural colour.

Many Thankyou's for browsing at my work, I am so appreciative of comments and awards given to me. Nothing is wasted.
