The Buenos Aires Central Post Office (native name: "Palacio de Correos y Telecomunicaciones" or most commonly, "Correo Central"), was the seat of the Argentine Post Office, and the Néstor Kirchner Cultural Centre since May 2015. The building, made in Beaux-Arts architecture style and designed by French architect Norbert Maillart, is located in the San Nicolás, Buenos Aires neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

It has recently been restored trying to keep the original style. In this image you can see the original elevators installed in the building and the new emergency staircase built at its sides.

Two images in less than a week, it feel's great to be back and producing new work, I just hope it continues.

This is another taken on my recent trip to France, it's Pont De Normandie which those of you that are fans of Michael Levin will obviously recognise the composition. In all fairness the bridge is just so immense that I couldn't find another composition where I could get the level of details I strive for, so when in Rome...

When I was shooting this, I stayed in the same spot and just took shot after shot, shooting well after the sun went down. Out of all the exposures I have of this, the best on the camera at the time that was exciting me looks virtually identical to Michael's. I will process it at some point because it will be a challenge, but doubt that I will be able to do anything with it that wouldn't resemble the original in it's entirety. As for this shot, I recall saying to to Giles that I wasn't feeling it and I honestly never had any intention of processing this, but glad I did.

Anyways, thanks for all the attention on my last post, it was a very warm welcome back to Flickr and was very much appreciated.

BTW - struggling with a title for this one, Paul Wheeler thought it looked like a zip, my wife thought it looked like a roll of film, just not sure I like the title. Generally as well, I only like one word titles so if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them. Update on the title, decided with Linear for now, this may well change and thanks for the suggestions.

Archaeological excavations demonstrate a continuity of life in Calnic (judet Alba), starting with the Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements, the Dacian and Roman remains, or from the period of migration to the Middle Ages.

The name of the city, mentioned for the first time in 1269 (villa Kelnuk) is of Slavic-Romanian origin. The name of the place was taken over by the Saxons (Kelling) and the Hungarians (Kelnek).

The Romanesque fortress of Calnic is an old noble residence, which by its small size cannot compete with those of the big cities, but which is considered as very representative of a local civilization, transylvaine and a particular time.

The fortress consists of two rows of walls (enclosures) with an oval path, arranged concentric and reinforced with flanking elements: two towers and a bastion. The front door is defended by a fortified corridor. The belts protect the interior courtyard, at the heart of the fortress, where the chapel, the fountain and the dungeon are located. The latter dominates by its height (27m) and its massiveness (walls of 1m) the whole complex. During the romantic era, this impressive medieval vestige was nicknamed the Siegfried Tower.

The outer enclosure or zwinger has a maximum diameter of around 70 m with a height of 3 m. The inner enclosure is the most imposing with its 7m height. On the small diameter, it is fortified by two towers: the portal tower (NW) and a defense tower (SE). 24 m high, the portal tower is one of the vertical domes of the complex. There are four bells here, which is why the building is also called the bell tower.

Due to its preservation in good condition, in the middle of a locality bearing until now the imprint of the civilization of the German colonists established in Transylvania, the edifice was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List (1999).

This is a scientific capture rather than an aesthetic one — acquired in H-alpha using a Lunt LS60MT with a Powermate 2.5x, from a narrow ROI (region of interest: using only a small part of your sensor (gives higher frame rate (good for lucky imagining))) and later heavily cropped. Despite the low resolution, it illustrates a key solar phenomenon: the continuity between a filament and a prominence. The structure spans across the solar disk as a dark, suspended filament and then extends beyond the limb where it becomes visible in emission as a prominence. Both are manifestations of the same magnetic structure — relatively cool plasma supported in the solar corona, seen in absorption or emission depending on the viewing angle.

A rough image, but it captures the physics — and that's it is about sometimes : Observing what you have been told, a deeper form of knowledge then you form (said Yoda).

In a sense of continuity with the previous shot, I am posting also this one, embracing a much wider visual field.

Origin, Tradition, Continuity... ~ Ursprung, Tradition, Kontinuitet...

And why do I call this one "Close To The Heavenly Hills"? Primary because I spent some Midsummers in a small village close to this church, where the view is magnificent. Of course there is another "message" too so the title is ambiguous.

Guess this should be seen in large for more details- Antar att den här skall ses is stort format för att se detaljerna.

The square crop worked so well with the first one, I thought I would adhere to some continuity... shame it cropped half of me out :)

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away to the next room.

I am I, and you are you.

Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.

Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.

Put no difference into your tone.

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed

at the little jokes, we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effect.

Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.

It is the same that it ever was.

There is absolute unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.

For an interval.

Somewhere. Very near.

Just around the corner.

All is well.

Park Tower (formerly known as the Lykes Building) is a skyscraper located in downtown Tampa, Florida. It is Tampa's first high-rise tower. At the time of its completion in November 1973, it was the tallest in Florida, and is currently sixth-tallest in Tampa, at 458 feet (36 stories). It was the tallest building in Tampa until One Tampa City Center was built in 1981.

Park Tower is located in the heart of downtown Tampa directly across from The Tampa Riverwalk & Hillsborough River; Curtis Hixon and Gaslight Parks; the Glazer Children's Museum and the Tampa Museum of Art. It is within walking distance of the Tampa Convention Center, University of Tampa, and the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

In 2016 the tower was purchased by a joint venture consisting of affiliates of NYSE listed City Office REIT (NYSE: CIO), Feldman Equities LLC, and Tower Realty Partners for $79.75 million. The group completed a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2019. The most significant change at Park Tower is the modernization of the office building's façade by painting the exterior a lighter color and upgrading the main entrance. The building's amenities were upgraded with a modern lobby and the addition of Buddy Brew Coffee café. The office tower's updated design was created by internationally renowned architect Gensler.

Since acquiring the property, new leases have been signed including the headquarters relocation of CAPTRUST Advisors, LLC, Buddy Brew Coffee and Continuity Logic, LLC. Anchor tenants include BB&T, United States Department of Justice – US Attorney's Office, Level 3 Communications, and Lykes Insurance.

Park Tower is LEED EB Gold Certified and EPA Energy Star certified.

The tower's amenities include FedEx Office, U.S. Post Office, BB&T Bank, Grow Financial Credit Union, Pearl Salon, Nature's Table Café, a fitness center, conference room and a 6th-floor tenant lounge, lobby concierge and Buddy Brew Coffee.

The building has two underground 13.2kV electrical feeds from the utility power company, one of which is from the high-priority medical grid and multiple diverse entry points for fiber optic and other data cabling. Park Tower is home to a large underground Federal Reserve Vault. The building also features video-enhanced 24x7x365 on-site security.

When it was originally built, the tower was the home of The First National Bank of Tampa, later First National Bank of Florida (First Florida Corporation). Park Tower was also the headquarters of the Lykes Brothers Corporation. The tower was purchased by Sterling American Property of New York City for $27.4 million in 2006 and underwent its first restoration including newly renovated elevators, air conditioning, and replacement of much of the electrical distribution system. The building later became the downtown Tampa headquarters of Colonial Bank, now BB&T. BB&T's sign is still featured on the top of the building.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Southern Highway or Route CH-7 is the most impressive Scenic Route in South America and one of the 10 most spectacular in the world. It is born in the city of Puerto Montt, covering more than 1,240 kilometers, in its route crosses several times the Andes mountain range, bordering along the coast and the fjords of the Western Patagonia, soon to be entered in the evergreen austral forests, approaching to numerous glaciers, great lakes and the Northern Ice Fields to finish in Villa O'Higgins, a few kilometers from the big Southern Ice Field.

This long road was born as a path of colonization in the twentieth century, when the Chilean Patagonia was completely isolated from the rest of the territory. The only connection was traveling through Argentine territory. Its first stretches began to be constructed in 1930 to support the incipient colonization, mainly in Palena and Aysen, being isolated efforts with little continuity during the following decades. Only in 1976 the Chilean State resumes its construction in order to reaffirm the territorial sovereignty. In charge of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and with the help of the Military Corps of Labor, an organization dependent on the Chilean Army, more than 10,000 soldiers worked in the most expensive and difficult engineering work in Chile, mainly due to the extreme climate, existence of glaciers, fjords, mighty rivers and impassable mountains that complicated the layout of the road. It took 20 years to complete the route to Villa O'Higgins, costing U$ 300 million and killing countless military and contractors. The project in total intends to unite all the Chilean Patagonia arriving until Port Williams in Tierra del Fuego completing more than 4,000 kms. It is expected that the southern section in Tierra del Fuego currently under construction will be completed by 2023. Estimates say that the entire highway could be completed and paved by 2040 (!). Which means that the total construction will have taken 60 years.

In 2007 the northern section began to be paved, it was estimated that by 2017 70% would be completed, but climatic, technical and geographical difficulties impede progress. At present little more than 400 km are effectively paved, remaining the rest as a gravel road suitable for all types of vehicles with large number of jobs in all sections. In the summer of 2017, the stretch between Puerto Yungay and Puerto Natales was continued with the commissioning of the Crux Australis ferry barge, which connects the Austral Highway and the Torres del Paine Park, bypassing the Southern Ice Field on an 41 hrs incredible voyage through channels and fjords.

Despite all the difficulties nowadays it is a tourist route of growing interest for travelers and adventurers from all over the world who want to explore the wild Patagonian beauty. It is estimated that the flow of tourists in the last years has grown by 600%. The new tourist enterprises and agencies are multiplying each year. Especially the fishing lodge and Adventure Tourism. As new stretches open, new natural attractions are added, making the Carretra Austral an inexhaustible source of unforgettable experiences having the possibility of being in contact with a nature in its most primitive and wild state without the human intervention.

Park Tower is the "Telco-Hotel" for the region, with a major telephony and internet presence.

So with the centuries old tradition of today’s proclamation of King Charles III the mantle is passed. Incidentally, as I understand it, the flags are to be raised today in celebration of the new king, returning to half mast again to mourn Queen Elizabeth II.

Part of some of the newer construction downtown SLO. I liked how it almost seemed to be a reflection when, actually, the wall continues on past the door.
