Mr. Sabold's Construction Trades program was happy to host students in the Building Trades Pre-Apprenticeship program on Nov. 7, 2024. This pre-apprenticeship program is offered to high school juniors and seniors by the YBA Workforce NOW Foundation and the York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL). It introduces students to a variety of skilled trades such as masonry, which is the specific skill the students worked on while at York Tech.
The pre-apprenticeship is a state-registered program through the Department of Labor and Industry’s Apprenticeship and Training Office. Other sessions include 10-hour OSHA training, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, and tile installation. The hands-on sessions are supported by an online curriculum as well.
Fox43's Tyler Poglitsch visited our Construction Trades program on Nov. 12, 2024. He interviewed sophomore Jessica McCabe, junior Cody Warner, and teacher Nick Sabold for a story about the current construction worker shortage. The trio explained how York Tech's specialized technical training prepares graduates for rewarding, in-demand jobs, such as construction-related positions.
