Perhaps the little Teddy bear looks so distressed (depressed, worried, sorrowful) because he has done something that wasn't nice. And now he has a bad conscience about that.
But don't worry. He's a part of our family. And family is a place, where you are always welcome and beloved.
"Happy Smile on Saturday" everyone!
Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hendrik_Conscience_Heritage_Library:
The Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library (Dutch: Erfgoedbibliotheek Hendrik Conscience) is the repository library of the city of Antwerp. It is named after the Flemish writer Hendrik Conscience, whose statue adorns the library. The library conserves books and magazines to keep them available permanently.
The history of the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library, which was called the City Library until 2008, goes back to 1481. The collection contains more than one million books. The primary collection areas are Dutch literature, history of the Netherlands, early printed books (pre-1830), Flemish folk culture, art in the Netherlands, and works about Antwerp ("Antverpiensia").
The history of the Sodality, the impressive building on the Hendrik Conscienceplein, dates from the seventeenth century. After the Carolus Borromeuskerk was built in 1621, the Jesuits founded different fraternities, called sodalities. For these sodalities, a two-storey building was erected opposite the church. After the dissolution of the Jesuit order in 1773, the building was used for all sorts of activities, including as a bar and as a ballroom. On the wall at the Wijngaardstraat you can still read the old name "Café Moortgat".
In 1879 the City of Antwerp bought the building, which was still called the Sodality, to accommodate the City Library. The city council renovated the building drastically. On 13 August 1883, the new library building opened and the bronze statue of Hendrik Conscience at the entrance was revealed. The building then offered shelter to both the City Library and the People's Library, which was reached through a separate entrance on the corner of Wijngaardstraat. After several years, the Sodality became too small for the growing library collections and in 1895, the People's Library moved to Blinde Straat.
The City Library could now use the entire space of the Sodality, but after some time it was necessary to expand even further, towards the old Jesuit convent. In this convent, the reading room, offices and three floors of stacks opened in 1936. In the Sodality, two additional floors of stacks were realized, plus the Nottebohmzaal.
Conscience and reputation are two things. Conscience is due to yourself, reputation to your neighbour.

I love to breathe fresh air at sunset and see the last remnants of the night turning into this magical light. Everything seems possible, the world is ours...

Thoughts on the lonely ranch....
Do hummers have conscience's? Do they go to Heaven ? If not how does a hummingbird sin ? If they're not in Heaven do I want to be there ? Ever looked at the word Con - Science ?
What do they think about all day ? Do they worry about heart attacks with heart beats of 1,200 per MINUTE !?! Since they live 4 to 6 years and supposedly can remember the location of good flowers do they see my Ranch with it's 18 feeders as Heaven ? Does that make me a God to them ? And most of all where the hell do they all go to sleep (hibernate) every night?
Ummm...back to cooking up and distributing another daily 2.5 gallon pot of sweet nectar........

Punctum is a term introduced by Roland Barthes in Camera Lucida in which he refers to uncontrollable, personally touching detail that instantly establishes a direct relationship with the viewer and the object or subject within (in the photo). I of course did not install it intentionally, let alone thought of it at the moment I took the photo, but on a second sight while converting the photo to black & white with green filter it pricked my conscience in all of sudden and drew my attention.
The photo was taken at the site where Virgin Mary is said to have fallen asleep for the last time.
My conscience saying, get down off this dream,
it's too dangerous and deadly,
(This guy) Has got you talking round in circles can't you see,
all for the sake of sexy (You're loving it),
Then there's my sense saying stop before you fall,
I don't wanna pick you up again,
(This guy) Has got you all romantic, crazier each day,
Do you think I'd listen, There's no way.
Cause I can't focus I can't stop,
You got me spinning round, round, round, round (Like a record),
I can't focus it's too hot (Inside),
You'll never get to Heaven if you're scared of getting high.
Dull Clouds.

Conscience - the only incorruptible thing about us.

UNFORTUNATELY I LOOK AND SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD AROUND ME, AND SEE NOT EVERYONE HAS A CONSCIENCE....BECAUSE IF THEY DID,,,,WOULD WE BE WHERE WE ARE NOW?
“How now, my lord, why do you keep alone,
Of sorriest fancies your companions making,
Using those thoughts which should indeed have died
With them they think on? Things without all remedy
Should be without regard: what's done, is done.”

Conscience keeps more people awake than coffee.
Coffee should be black as hell; strong as death, and sweet as love.

Red and Green Power Ranger figures from Mezco, captured with a 2x anamorphic lens combined with a 100mm macro lens.
Being on a family holiday I had to restrict a lot of my photography time, my Wife is very understanding but there are limits! I found myself taking a lot more shots of people than I would normally.
This was taken in Pisa, outside a church and I just liked the artwork contrasted with the scene behind.
Ezekiel 31:15 “This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the day that it descended into Sheol, I shut down its water supplies, covered over its deep water, and shut down its rivers. As a result its abundant water sources dried up, and I caused Lebanon to mourn for it. All the trees of the field wilted because of it.’”
“The United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER. Enjoy the water, California!!!” –
Donald J. Trump
Shutting off the water: this is the United Nations’ Agenda 21—sustainable development—in action in California. You know their dialectic: problem, reaction, solution. Their manufactured problem (PSYOP)—the boogeyman in the closet—is climate change. Their solution: net-zero. They will cut off fossil fuels and lock me away in my 15-munite city neighbourhood (gulag archipelago): good-bye freedom of movement. They will silence my pro-fossil fuel speech, labeling it as mal-dis-mis information: good-bye free speech. Then comes the climate lockdowns: good-bye freedom of assembly. The end result: I will own nothing and be happy. All of us will be equally poor. Equality for all! Anti-civilization…anti-human…woohoo!
In this post-Christian era, the rise of nihilism will lead to an authoritarian system that revolves around surveillance and data: digital IDs, biometrics, digital currencies, and social credit scores. Nihilistic Darwinism will ensue, resulting in genocide: “Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.” People already accept social Darwinism: euthanasia and abortion. What about covid? Oh, I guess you are too dumb to understand that one! What happened during covid was an eye-opener. Nowadays people lack moral fortitude. They are fearful and cowardly. They can be easily whipped up into an authoritarian mode. They have lost all commonsense and discernment. Their consciences have been seared.
Deconstructing the moral foundations of the West will only destroy it. When this happens, you can kiss democracy and free market capitalism good-bye! At the moment, we only have a resemblance—a counterfeit—of the two. We, however, will soon lose both. Once gone, they will be lost forever—the boot on the face of humanity. As for me: my hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ! God’s moral laws are perfect! If you disagree, you are a sinner…buahahaha!
And evening newspapers, and eyes

Impatient to assume the world.

We’ve all felt that irksome pang of guilt over some misdemeanor at some point in our lives. And we’ve all (perhaps secretly) resented that troublesome pang within ourselves even just a bit, since it seems to serve others at the cost of our own ease. So, given that we are evolved in a process based in self-interest, why would we have this trait at all?
Well, there is this brilliant evolutionary biology aspect of game theory known as the hawk-dove game, in which two players who each have power to be selfish at the cost of the other’s welfare can choose to be either selfish (and harm the other for personal gain, i.e. play “hawk”) or kind (and cooperate peaceably, i.e. play “dove”). In this model it has been mathematically shown that the worst consequences fall upon each when both choose to be selfish, and the best strategy is to be nice (“dove”) until the other person is selfish (“hawk”), at which point you too should play hawk until they play dove again, and so on.
Thus it makes sense that, since doing the “good” thing and refraining from the “bad” thing is actually better for our own biological fitness and well-being (except when we are wronged, in which case the “bad” thing all of a sudden feels like justice), it would be beneficial to us to have evolved morality. In fact, given that this trait is so important for an organism’s ultimate survival and fitness, you may not even be here if your millennia-old ancestors had not developed a conscience. Thus, even if it gets in the way of all the naughty things you want to do, a conscience is something to be thankful for, in the grand scale of things.
