Mount Conner, also known as Attila and Artilla, and occasionally found as Mount Connor, is an Australian mountain located in the southwest corner of the Northern Territory, 75 kilometres (47 mi) southeast of Lake Amadeus.
Mount Conner reaches 859 metres (2,818 ft) above sea level and to 300 metres (984 ft) above ground level.

Last Thursday I took my grandson Conner who is 5 years old down to the Ravines park to see what we could see. He just loves to take photos and he got this camera for his 5th Birthday. Conner is quite the birder as he just loves Eagles, owls, hawks, woodpeckers and very interested in any type of wild animal.
We got to the Ravines and had our sights set to see an Eagle and were not disappoint. We didn't get any shots of the Eagles but we did see them fly by. Next we walk a little farther and saw a few ducks in the water and I told Conner we had to be real quiet so we would not scare them away. We walked as close as we could get and then Conner was able to get a few shots in while I was taking photos of him. I just love the concentration on his face and he was really having a good time.
As we were leaving we were in the parking lot and Conner saw a couple walking their three dogs and he wanted to take photos of them. I told him that he had to go over to the people and ask them first for permission before taking the photos. Without hesitation he headed right over there and asked them if he took take the photos. They agreed and he took a couple photos and the female asked if she could see the photos (I do not think she thought it was a real camera). He showed the photos and they were impressed and she gave Conner a high-five for doing such a good job.
It sure was a fun afternoon with my grandson.

I look forward to coming home on Mondays and Thursdays to see Conner before he goes home. Kari watches Conner on these two days and now he is coming to the back door to greet me say "Poppa....Poppa".
Love it!
BTW....I do look forward to come home on all the other days also.

Conner is a white Morgan. He was used as a stud and had never carried a rider. He was not producing the desired color in his off-spring and he was, 'let go'. He has been in training for about a year and has turned out to be an amazing addition to the herd.
SOOC. I leveled the fence, but the rest is untouched.

This flat topped mountain in the blue haze is called Mount Conner - also known as Atila and Artilla. Its overall height is 859 metres (2,818 ft) above sea level and is around 300 metres (984 ft) above the surrounding ground level. This view was taken from a small hill near Curtin Springs on the Lasseter highway between Erldunda roadhouse and Uluru. I scrambled up a small hill to get a better view to show some of the surrounding countryside. I am unsure of the vegetation, but I think they are mostly Casuarina trees, or "desert oak" trees (happy to be corrected on that). This also shows the rich red coloured soil that gives this area the Red Centre name. Travellers this way often mistake Mount Conner for Uluru or Ayers Rock when they first see it.
It lies fully within the huge Curtin Springs cattle station (over one million acres) which is in Pitjantjatjara country. Some very interesting history of the Curtin Springs property is available here www.curtinsprings.com/our-history/

Conner and Tucker checking out the window to see if grandma is coming home.
I think Tucker needs to see the groomer.

Here is the second grandkid that we are watching play ball this spring/summer. Conner is quite fun to watch play ball and he really enjoys when it is his turn to play catcher.

According to the guides, many tourists drive to see Uluru / Ayers Rock, see this, thinking they are ay Uluru, take their pictures and go home.
This is in fact Artilla/Atila/Mount Conner.
As a result, it has the nick name Fooluru

Thursday evening Kari and I went to go see Conner drive his quad around his yard. He has not been on his quad in like 4 weeks as the last time he rode it he tipped it over and that kind of scared him a bit. But he wanted to show us how he can ride and after a few times around the yard (5 acres) he got right back in the groove of things. He looks like he really enjoys driving his quad and was proud of what he was doing. He is growing up so fast.
